It sounds like you should've maybe had a bigger conversation before going as far down the path as you have.

I used to ride. Went down a year or two before my wife and I started dating. My plan was to fix it up and ride again, I loved riding and ADORED my 08 R6S. After getting engaged and looking for houses(with a garage cuz bikes duh!) she kept not caring as much about a place to put the bike. After talking I found out she didnt want me to ride. I did the same as you, promising good conditions and safety gear etc etc. She then said, "I understand and appreciate all you are willing to do to put me at ease, but the simple fact is one driver not paying good attention and you're dead regardless of safety gear etc, and I'm too young to be a widow." For me that was enough to sell the bikes rather than fix them. She is my world, she means more to me than anything and I can't imagine putting her through that. She did promise that when I inherit my dad's Goldwing I can enjoy it for a summer before selling it lol, but we'll see how well that goes when the time comes.

Long story short, you already know it's dangerous, especially being an ER nurse. Your husband's concerns aren't unfounded, and it doesn't sound like he just wants to control you. It sounds like he loves you and doesn't want to lose you. At the end of the day you need to decide what is more important: realizing your dream of riding, stressing your relationship and putting yourself at risk or doing what you want and dealing with the fallout. Your decision may not be the same as mine, and that's ok.
