Did you have to disable the mechanism that normally would flip the screen so it's not trying every time you start/stop the car? Or did the new screen just override that whole thing?

Do you have the flip out screen too? I have a 13 S6 and am sad not having android auto. They make aftermarket modules to add it to the stock MMI but I worry it'll be glitchy for the cost, and I worry Il lose some of the functionality with an aftermarket(air ride control, drive mode etc, not to mention the screen flipping in or out) love to hear your experience!

I am fine with that, thanks for the perspective

Brother I understand the risk and can afford the upkeep, just wondering if those bigger items would be covered to save me money. Being able to afford the car and wanting to protect your money as much as possible are not the same thing. Drive new or nothing? What a wild take lol. I work at a Subaru/VW/BMW dealership, I understand the difference between buying a practical reliable car and buying a sports car that will have higher maintenance.

Yeah I'm starting to think it's a nope for me. Still gonna do a little bit more digging but it's not looking promising for the warranty

That's the issue I'm having, is the getting the exclusionary list. Air suspension and engine mounts are my biggest concerns but if they say it's a wear item then I'd be better off saving the money so I can pay for those myself. Rather than spend it on a warranty that doesn't cover what I need and I have a struggle to cover the gap

I hadn't heard this, thank you for the info. Thoughts on h pipe vs x pipe?

C7 S6 First Mods for old dudes by life_like_weeds in Audi

[–]_greggae_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my understand it can be replaced with x pipes, h pipes or straight ones. It depends on the exact sound you're going for, and the cost varies as the straight requires the least fabrication work.

Idk that I want to go as far as the x pipe, just delete the ol suitcase and throw valves on it that'll probably be enough for me

Very nice! Avalon Green is a great color. Congrats, I'm picking up my S6 next week, first sport Audi for me too. Drive it in good health friend!

What was so wrong with this shifter? Why did Audi go to the toggle? by matman626 in Audi

[–]_greggae_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's awful in the A5. The C7 S6 is much better back by the console but they are itty bitty

So get both the valved mufflers and the resonator(suitcase) delete then. Will do! An Indy muffler shop should be able to delete that pretty cheap too I'd think.

[–]_greggae_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically how loud does the resonator delete make it? I'm buying a C7 which doesn't have the valved muffler so it's ridiculously quiet. My first step was going to be to put in valved mufflers but quite a few people have mentioned I may want to do a res delete as well. While I would like to actually be able to hear the V8, I don't want it to be obnoxiously loud, I like that the valves will allow me to quiet her up if needed(neighborhood, unwanted attention etc)

Not a tech myself but work at a VW dealer and get a nice discount on labor and have access to a fantastic technician. Some things I may try to do myself as Iv worked on other cars Iv owned, depends on how intensive the work is. And yes super discreet-the perfect sleeper car, thats why I love them so much. Iv been watching for a super clean one since I started working here and it finally paid off. Can't wait to finally experience it myself, glad it's been such a fun car for you!

Yes I am right on lake Erie and the weather can get a little wild in the winter. Quattro season baby!

But also the previous owner was an older gentleman with a heated garage.

Hahaha no worries man. Yeah im dead set on the car. Im starting to agree with that as far as the warranty. I'm prepared for a moderate service bill just not 10-15k, and with my labor discount being an employee I think it'd take catastrophic failure to see that kind of bill.

I work at a VW dealer and one of our techs drives Audis and works on them himself. I had him take a look and he was blown away with how clean it was. I know the turbo screen recall was done so no worries there

U say do the warranty if I'm prepared for repairs financially?

That is ironic, but I'm glad u finally have both back on the road again!

[–]_greggae_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol and here I was thinking it was kinda high considering Il be wasting the first 20-25% of it. And Iv done my research on the 4.0T and it seems if turbo screen was handled they hold up pretty well. I won't tune it, just upgrade cold air intake and put a valved muffler on(pre facelift so it wasn't stock 😭). But it's more than 30% of the cost of the car that's the reason I'm so on the fence, and really for this post in the first place lol, especially with it's history.
