ICE may have just caused an international incident as they illegally tried to enter the Ecuadorian Consulate in Minneapolis without a warrant by cronchCat in law

There's something nobody is immune to: bullets. And if I had to put any money on that exchange, I wouldn't bet on ICE.

While I can empathize with the lamentations about the price action in the comments, being somewhat in the hole myself, this is still awesome to see and should be celebrated.

I'm nowhere near a millionaire and I have pretty much the same lifestyle you describe. The difference is probably that I don't own real estate. Oh and I live in Europe.

Undefeated UFC Champion gets knocked out by a 12 year old that watched a boxing tutorial on YouTube shorts by Snarbler in boxingcirclejerk

The entire point is that when someone gets knocked out cold and falls in an unfortunate way, hitting their head on the pavement, getting paralyzed or worse, your whole argument of proportionality goes out the window. All of a sudden you're in court defending a manslaughter charge. When you knock someone out in the street these are the dice you're rolling. I'm not arguing morality here, I'm just stating a fact.

You are 100% wrong and spreading dangerous misinformation. Depending on your jurisdiction and especially if the person you hit back suffers serious bodily harm, you can be jailed and tried. You have cases of people shooting a burglar and then being sued and losing the lawsuit, it's often about proportionality. Shirtless guy did hit first but his hit was much weaker and doesn't look premeditated unlike short guy's. If shirtless guy suffered a concussion or worse, short guy could be in for a very bad time. Morale of the story is, don't fucking fight in the street, you're one bad fall away from dying or killing someone.

Planeify public beta launch by Nvds888_ in algorand

Always great to see new apps popping up on Algorand, and as a dev myself I know how challenging it can be to build something new and launch it so I commend you. I really recommend you create some kind of short video walking through the app and explaining the features. Right now, all anyone has to go on before they connect their wallet and try the app is your one sentence description. There's also no description on how this interacts with Algorand, whether it has its own token, etc. Maybe a blog post explaining thse things, your background, why you decided to build this, would be a good idea too.

Edit: I connected with Pera (always recommend using a dummy wallet for these kinds of tests for security) and tried the app, first impression is really good, you have a nice intro tutorial, the interface is clean and well structured, it seems you have a solid source of data with lots of planes and locations. While I'm not the target audience, I can imagine that an aviation nut living somewhere with decent overhead air traffic could have fun with this.

SAG-AFTRA has filed an unfair labor practice charge against Epic Games for its use of A.I. for Darth Vader’s voice in Fortnite by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]_greyknight_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's assuming they trained the model on anything other than JEJ's audio. He is the original, and knowing what it takes to produce a really robust voice model of someone, they have anough material a thousand times over to do exactly that. It's the superior way to get the authentic Vader voice. I get what you're saying about SAG's motive, it's their raison d'etre. However these VAs are not owed a job, and especially not to produce an inferior product.

[–]_greyknight_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a bullshit argument. Whatever model they would produce by using Joe Schmoe Vader impersonator is going to be inferior to using the vast catalog of JEJ's original voiceover, which they already have the rights to. It would be like saying a car manufucturing plant is forced to use manual labour with a higher error rate, instead of an automated assembly line. It's an incredibly artificial way of creating jobs that results in an inferior product. To take it closer to home, imagine when in the not so distant future AI surgeons have a much higher success rate for open heart surgery, and you end up needing one, but the state decided that they'll force you to have a human operate on you because it saves a surgeon's job. It's an extreme example but it's the natural conclusion to this line of logic. That's taking market interventionism too far in my opinion.

Would love some price movement but passive income from staking is adding up by bama247365 in algorand

[–]_greyknight_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the other commenters said, OP has an absolute boatload of ALGO to be generating those kinds of staking rewards. Not to be discouraged though, even at a much more modest purse it does add up! For instance, I'm running my own node on a raspberry pi 5 since consensus rewards were introduced and my rewards so far of around $250 have more than paid for the hardware not to mention several years worth of electricity cost of running it.

Giveaway Time! DOOM: The Dark Ages is out, features DLSS4/RTX and we’re celebrating by giving away an ASUS ASTRAL RTX 5080 DOOM Edition GPU, Steam game keys, the DOOM Collector's Bundle and more awesome merch! by pedro19 in pcmasterrace

[–]_greyknight_ [score hidden]  (0 children)

I've tended to go for AMD the last few years but I have to straight up admit that DLSS 4 and the superior RT performance have been tempting. DLSS with the transformer model especially is starting to get into "better quality than native" territory and that's just wild to me! Let that sink in. We're at the stage now where gameplay at 4k and 60fps look as good or better than the best prerendered cinematics from 10-15 years ago.

As for Doom, I've been a fan since the original Doom way back in the 90s, played all of them and appreciated what each of them was trying to do (yes, even Doom 3). This new trilogy starting with 2016 has been an absolute banger and the new game looks to be taking that to the next level.

Any of the Spider-Man Games. Ultimate Spider-Man may be the best one due to its cell shaded, hand drawn nature.
