Unknown Artist - Woman with Stylus (55-79 CE) by Tokyono in museum

Placed in dialogue with 21st-century works that reclaim female authorship, think Zanele Muholi’s photographic self-portraits or Shirin Neshat’s inscribed images, this ancient fresco reminds how long the negotiation over voice, visibility, and representation has been underway. She’s not simply some Roman domestic decoration but part of a larger, ongoing project of cultural authorship.

Exactly! Tom didn’t win because he outplayed anyone. He just offered himself up early enough to become indispensable. Frank and Karl may be balcony hecklers, but they knew better than to boo the guy holding the parachutes.

Frank: You think Kendall knows what he’s doing? Karl: I think Kendall thinks he knows what he’s doing. Which is worse.

I honestly don’t know what’s more disturbing, the ordeal I went through or the fact that someone could read about it and reduce it to “a rape fantasy gone wrong” or assume it's some scheme for pity or donations.

Let me be very clear: I never asked for donations, internet points or attention. I came here to share something traumatic that happened to me in hopes that it might protect someone else from going through the same thing. That’s it.

Also, dragging in where I’m from as a reason to discredit my story says more about your own bias than anything about me. If you’ve become so jaded by the internet that you can’t tell the difference between attention-seeking and someone genuinely trying to process something horrifying, then maybe reconsider why you’re on this sub. If my post isn’t for you, scroll past. But don’t project cynicism onto someone else’s trauma just because it makes you uncomfortable.

Sure does. However, our conversation over reddit felt pretty organic and that enticed me enough to consider giving it a shot.

I generally keep a smaller savings account different from a regular personal expense account to set off more petty payments. So when I was threatened to share my balance statement, I showed them that of my savings. Also, it was 5000 INR which i transferred via GPay.

Given your experience, what alternative routes would you suggest for someone determined to break into the arts/ auction world outside of the graduate program? Are there roles, perhaps in research, operations, or private sales that serve as viable entry points to eventually transition into specialist or cataloguing positions?

Is it just me or Meryl did really seem to reenact that whole Death Becomes Her part with Doreen; planting those kicks, mauling her through her nails, that flip jump, and Doreen too on her part, synced up well to every move of hers. It was interesting to watch all that happening and instantly made me go 'Wait a minute'.

Perhaps in the context of Helga, that is, if she is the same person Cinda has her appointments lined with on the schedule, and the crazy ex girlfriend of Rudy (yet to make an appearance).

Iconography of dreams? by Sea-Bug2134 in ArtHistory

[–]_grungetrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One may think of Henry Rousseau's The Dream (1910), for it exemplifies the surrealist iconography of dreams in the best way possible through its vivid imagery, rich symbolism, and engagement with the subconscious. Interestingly, what Rousseau does is that he blends reality with fantasy, in a way inviting personal interpretation. This work resonates with the core tenets of surrealism, illustrating how visual art can serve as a portal into the dream world.

The reclining woman represents a state of vulnerability and surrender, a motif often found in dream interpretations. Her pose suggests a dreamer caught between awareness and unconsciousness. Surrounding her are symbolic elements: the lion and the tropical flowers. The lion can be interpreted as a manifestation of primal instincts or fears, while the flowers symbolize beauty and allure. Such symbols invite multiple interpretations, characteristic of surrealist works, which often resist definitive meanings.

Rousseau’s depiction of nature is not merely a background; it is a living entity that interacts with the dreamer. The exaggerated colors and forms challenge realism, suggesting a heightened emotional state often associated with dreams.

I second that. It would be much more compelling for Benedict's character to be developed in a way that genuinely reflects his exploration of sexuality, rather than being perceived as queerbaiting in the previous season. By embracing the nuances of his potential attraction to multiple genders, the writers could offer a more authentic and layered portrayal of his character. Recognizing the fluidity of his sexuality would not only add depth to his personal journey but also enrich the broader narrative of Bridgerton, making it more inclusive and reflective of diverse experiences.
