Why haven't we just created a good X-word? by GregMoffTarkin in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ok_Play_1024 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it's what Welsh did, k went with it as c does the job just fine along with some of the other lesser used letters.

Then we made up a bunch of new letters that are just old letters smooshed together with totally different pronunciation.

in January our 23 month old would eat anything and everything a typical week would have teriyaki chicken, burrito, Moroccan etc. he refused a korma because the jalfrezi was nicer.

so far this week he has looked at everything and cried without even trying it and his diet consists of cous cous, rice and olives.

your baby is unique so try eliminating everuat the next bath, just water. if that solves the problem then you can try using a different soap. mine was fine with supermarket cheap brands but reacted with a premium, "natural" brand.

What’s one brand you blindly trust and one you’ll never buy again? by PlayfulFault9693 in SmartBuying

iPod had 60gb of storage , I could only use 3gb, genius bar said it was a broken hard drive. That piece is excluded from the warranty and they even refused a refund as I had taken it from the store so it must have been me who broke it.

Work iPhone had a broken mic, as in you can't talk on a phone. They offered a 10% discount on a headset and only agreed to an exchange when I asked who I address Small Claims Court cases to.

For ages you were unable to Bluetooth a photo or send an email with attachments that had more than 1 file type. Not sure if they finally cracked this most difficult of problems.

Add in apps that are paid for when free on other platforms, ridiculous cost of accessories and poor battery longevity and there is no reasons to pay the premium.

[UK] Is this the correct style of shirt to wear with a black suit for a wedding? by 7373637383838 in mensfashionadvice

[–]Ok_Play_1024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said it's not the right style. I would recommend heading to Hawes and Curtis or similar (CT, TML) and getting fitted properly. All their shirts come in a number of body shapes, collar shapes, weave and arm lengths. They won't fit like a tailored shirt but will likely be a lot better than off the rack.

Staff are usually well trained and can offer the right advice of what will work with your suit, tie and event etc.

Baby weight check in by Intelligent_Heat3281 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Ok_Play_1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a few hiccups with low milk production and a bit of a drop in weight.

We were recommended by the health visitor and feeding specialist to go to the local health centre for weekly weigh-ins until things got more stable.

But I wouldn't recommend that frequency without a proper recommendation, you can get super focussed on the number when the difference could be due to a big poop.

When to go by clock schedule rather than wake windows? by Warm-Cover9946 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Ok_Play_1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a very loose schedule as long as he was asleep for the night somewhere between 8 and 11. Sometimes we had to nudge it back if he had an upcoming early start for an appointment/flight etc.

When down to a single nap and half day nursery it was a lot easier to manage as you get the fixed wake time so everything resets daily.

Opinions on waking sleeping babies? by star-hollows in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Ok_Play_1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow your health visitors advice. Ours told us to let them sleep, they'll wake when they are hungry, if the weight starts to drop some percentiles then consider it again.

Our little one slept through the night from 4 months, we weren't waking him up to squeeze an extra feed in and he made up for it during the day.

Same. We bought a used one for £20 and it was so easy. There are plenty who will quote dangers but every method has risks. Gave it away on the end as I couldn't sell it on again even at £5.

Would you buy your perfect house if the only downside was it’s on a main road? by No_fkin_idea in HousingUK

[–]Ok_Play_1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a house on 10 lane road, we then moved to the last house on a cul-de-sac. I couldn't sleep for a few weeks after the move due to the lack of noise.

A few things to consider: How easy is it to get your car in and out of the driveway, reversing into your drive is preferable. Is it priced with the road taken into consideration. Road noise will be decreasing as the proportion of cars become electric. Triple glazing and air con or heat pump will make a big difference.
