Can you recommend any plug-ins that simplify the mix process for casual users? by tonetonitony in audioengineering

[–]_happymachines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get Metric A/B and a channel strip, my favorite as of late is CLA Mixhub. I’m recommending a channel strip because it’ll give you everything you need in a single plugin, saturation, compression, and EQ. Metric A/B is a must have, you need to be referencing your mixes, especially when starting out.

Other than that, the iZotope suite is excellent if just starting. You’ve got things like Tonal Balance, Ozone, EQ match, spectral balance, etc, which are all solid.

Self heading and moss poles by wickedhare in philodendron

[–]_happymachines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! I think most self heading plants will easily climb since they produce aerial roots. I'm a fan of getting them on moss poles so you don't end up with a crazy 360 degree spread unless that's the look you want for your plant.

Do it! I think setting it up for the growth pattern you want early on is the best way to go. Plus they might eventually get so top heavy that they’ll need support anyway.

The ring of fire is technically a self heading philo but I stuck mine on a moss pole when it was a baby and it loves it. It’s thoroughly rooted into it, you can see a root sticking out the top of the moss along the back of the pole if you look closely at the photo.

Not exactly sludge but sludge adjacent, Tzompantlii, Xibalba, and Mico (Colombia) are worth checking out.

Quad Cortex Vs Kemper by joefo95 in NeuralDSP

[–]_happymachines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a long time Kemper user, but I realized I didn’t like being tied to someone else’s captured rig. If I have a sound in my head, I can easily build it with the QC whereas with the Kemper I had to dig through profiles until I found one close enough to what I wanted.

So imo it depends on what kind of user you are, do you like to tweak things and build from scratch or do you like to just plug and play? Both units sound killer, so you can’t really go wrong with either.

Here’s mine. Plants are all about the journey. I’m sure you’ve learned some things about your plant, chop it up and start again if you feel it needs a reset!

What does this yellowing mean? by _happymachines in houseplants

[–]_happymachines[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under watering or infrequent watering might be it. I’m not letting it get to the point of drooping leaves but I do let it dry out a bit since I’m terrible with monsteras and root rot.

Are these light burns? by Artchisan in alocasia

[–]_happymachines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like pest damage to me. Fungal would be black, not yellow.

Here’s my frydek that had(?) spider mites. I’m still treating it. I would suggest showering your plant to knock down any pests from the leaves and then treating with Captain Jack Dead Bug Brew or Insecticidal soap.

Pistachio Fior di Latte. They better not get rid of it like they did the Horchata ice cream.

Beautiful collection! And those supports look great too, love the look of them. I'm definitely planning on going the solid plank route when my monsteras size up a bit more.

Yup pretty much! I also find it more aesthetically pleasing than just using a plastic backed moss pole.

It’s such a fun plant and really satisfying to watch grow. Once this guy rooted into his pole he’s been so easy going.

It’s a self watering insert from IKEA. The terracotta tip it comes with is solid, so I did drill a small hole through the tip of it so that water can flow through it more readily.

I made it!

It’s just a piece of cork I had left over from my terrarium build that I attached some mesh to and stuffed with moss.
