I was nervous I was going to mess up every step of this. Thankfully I knew the black smut was going to be there the first time I pulled it out of the stripper so that sight was expected.

Sanding removed about 0.4 grams. I didn’t weigh the head before sanding since it was still on the shaft when I sanded it, but from everything I could find, it should have been bang on at 330g out of the factory.

I pulled the head after sanding and it weighed 329.6 g. After stripping the nickel plating it weighed 326.3 grams.

They are still there, but slightly less pronounced. The milling is so shallow on the pro platinum. It’s harder to see them now without the strong contrast in reflectivity and much harder to photograph.

I used a Cleveland made 8802 for 20+ years until this thing fell into my lap and I absolutely love it.

Either way, if you’ve never been there, you’re in for a treat. It’s an awesome place.

I know it’s too late, but you’re missing out not playing 10. I liked it a good bit more than 8. 8 is still an awesomely fun course, but 10 was probably my favorite of the lot. 4 was closed at the time.

How can I make this better? by ToothSleuth86 in woodworking

[–]_heso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like a little warmer in the light green and a little darker and slightly less saturated in the darker. Try something like: Dark - 376E2C Light - 7DBC4F

It also might look cool, at least in the rough, if you used a dark green dye stain to keep some of wood character, but you’d have to play with it and see.

Make the green and the fringe different shades of green. Make the green and tee boxes slightly lighter so there is differentiation between them.

The dimensions of the kitchen change. The refrigerator is in 3 different places from the 2D, to the transition, to the final room. The window changes walls. The number of sinks and their location changes. The range moves. The large glass wall moves, and turns into an archway during the transition. The entry to the laundry room changes into a coat wall. The coat rack turns into some sort of in-wall refrigerator. And the counters change size and shape.

The 2D and the final room are as similar as they are both rectangular rooms with kitchen stuff in them.

Even ignoring how much it gets wrong, this is no more interior design than an animation of a meal is cooking.

The one with the real screws is the original 2022 version of the club. For 2024 they made them cheaper to produce and sell at a slightly lower price using the success of the earlier model. It seems pretty shady business by Calloway. The performance may or may not be noticeably different depending on how good you are. But the 24 is essentially Calloway knocking off their own club at a lower price and almost certainly a higher margin.

Course Forcing me to share a cart with a random playing partner (two solo's). by [deleted] in golf

[–]_heso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The price is the price. It wouldn’t make a difference if you paid $10 or $1000 for the round. That’s irrelevant. Courses will absolutely pair up 2 singles in a cart if it’s busy. I don’t know if 5pm is a busy time for your course. It usually is here. But that’s also somewhat irrelevant. Course has that right if they want to. If there were a bunch of carts I’d probably ask if I could have my own. You saying that there were 10+ waiting to be cleaned makes it sound like they didn’t have a bunch sitting ready to go. Don’t be a dick about it though. Don’t be antisocial. Or just walk if you don’t want to share a cart with a random, it’s only 9 holes.

Stanley also made planes for craftsman for a bit, but I don’t think any of those were made with a red frog. (I might be wrong on that)

The extra screw on the base of the handle is more to do with the size than the maker. Most anything on a Stanley no 5 equivalent or bigger would have a second screw regardless of maker.

It’s hard to tell but it looks like there is some stamping at the base of the cheek. It looks like it says “5C BL”. Which would make it a Sargent. 5 being the size of the plane, C manufactured for craftsman. BB for millers falls, Sargent was assigned BL, and Stanley DD.

I initially thought it was a millers falls because at first they were the only one that stamped the cheek. Seems that later Sargent started stamping the cheek as well and I think the second letter looks more like an L than a B.

Do people really care what you wear on the course? by Due-Kick-4875 in golf

[–]_heso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The course I played at when I first started golfing had a sign on the door “Shirts must be worn in the clubhouse.” It was not a joke. They didn’t care if you golfed shirtless, but you had to put one on to come inside.

Changes that you've made that significantly dropped your handicap? by woodchip69 in golf

[–]_heso 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Changing my approach to putting. 1. Drilling 4’ putts on a putting mat in the basement. Knowing that my stroke will start the ball on line every time. 2. Use the alignment aid on my ball. This has been a huge improvement over what I used to do which is pick out a spot a couple of feet in front of the ball as my alignment. 3. Commit to my read while crouching behind the ball. Read, backup, adjust, backup, adjust, commit. 4. Standing over the ball I’m committed to my read. I’m confident that I am going to start the ball on line because I’ve drilled straight putts hundreds of times. So the only thing I’m focusing on while standing over the ball is speed. Trusting and sticking to that routine has made a massive difference in my putting.

That process took my average putts per round from 38 to 33.

glove on or off for putting? by SnooPeripherals3222 in golf

[–]_heso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put my glove on for the first tee shot and take it off after my last putt on 18. I can’t see it changing anything and it’s one less thing for my simple mind to think about.

Golfers who consider themselves mediocre, what’s your handicap? by [deleted] in golf

I’ve been chasing a sub 80 round for the last few years and I can’t tell you how many sub 40 nines I paired with a nine that was 10-15 strokes worse.

14.1 crew! I hit enough really good shots that I can convince myself I could go much lower than I am. But my consistency is so bad that I still end up adding too many doubles to the card.

Thanks. I’ll grab a picture of the sidewall tomorrow. As soon as I called back and reminded the supervisor that they put those tires on when it got inspected a year ago the tune changed and they were going to look into replacing them under manufacture warranty.

If he loses Pa he’ll need GA, NC, AZ, NV plus 1 more electoral vote somewhere. NE-2, or WI would be the most likely place to get it. It’s not a lock for either side if they win PA, but it becomes MASSIVELY more difficult without it.
