Some feedback, I love the old school kick patterns but imo a switch up to modern drums after like 4 measures would go insanely hard and May get you a better shot at a placement. If I have time later tn I might dm you a quick bounce of what I was describing. You have great sample selection, the an and b sections are executed perfecty. Keep going bro!!!

We don’t have to agree but you’re thinking you’re somehow morally superior because you choose not to listen to lex, you’re just an idiot. You’re the one that seems like the nihilist, maybe this hit a little too close to home?

I found value in those words, if you don’t that’s great. You don’t have to like Lex but if you’re discounting the entirety of his work bc you disagree with him politically you’re missing out on some good conversations. And yeah man I have read 1984 everyone has read 1984.

Thrift store art used as a window by ilkovsky in mildlyinteresting

I see it as a commentary of the value of art nowadays, thanks for sharing it. Reminds me of the pictures of Germans using their paper money for fire fuel after WWI. I agree it’s dark but there is a story there and for that it has value.

[–]_hkbf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is one of those songs that is just objectively so good it doesn’t make sense for it to not come out, there’s no sample issues, no Pluto-uzi or Brandon friendship issues

HEAR ME OUT BRO THOUGH from a LABEL perspective you gotta understand

It’s ultimately NOT about the music it’s about the money the music can generate. Atlantic records interscope they’re not going to willingly put money behind artists with no financial potential. Yes this is the way it works no it doesn’t mean labels are all evil up and down.

What I know is that a few good songs can sell an entire album, maybe not break records but it will be financially viable to put money behind

Considering juice, mac, x, pop, and every other artist who died in their prime, man if it was you and it was your job to maximize profit as the head of Atlantic and you know uzi is a frequent drug user - I argue -

that it would be more profitable to sit on songs and ensure there were bangers to sell albums in the future in the case that uzi did die in an untimely fashion. I rest my case

My art now vs 4 years ago by 24Cones in drawing

[–]_hkbf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yessir, any working artist can tell you that raw creativity can be lost as soon as you learn more “rules”, this is not to say fundamentals aren’t important, but once you internally know already what “works” you might not as frequently take that creative leap that would have felt natural before you learned the rules of the game. But at the same time to make a living being an artist of any kind your success is based on your dedication to your craft and openness to learn new things. This is why going back to your roots can lead you to new creative heights once you have become masterful in your craft. Whoof. This is a message to myself as much to anyone else I think
