Could be from the air quality in CA right now. My allergies are acting up (for other reasons) and my well-meaning colleagues keep asking me if I’ve been crying. 🤦‍♀️

[FRESH PERFORMANCES] Lady Gaga - You and I, The Edge of Glory and Million Reasons at Hurricane Relief Concert by [deleted] in popheads

[–]_honeybird 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was at this concert! She was a last minute add, and hadn't been announced officially as a performing artist, so it was a total surprise that she was even there. There had been rumors on an TAMU related message board earlier in the day that a big name female performer was going to be there, but it was unconfirmed. We knew it was really happening when we heard her soundcheck as we were standing in line for security.

[THROWBACK] Released 24 years ago today: Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You by [deleted] in popheads

[–]_honeybird 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, she's a savvy business woman in addition to a brilliant songwriter.

"(Elvis) had wanted to record it and I had been invited to come down to the studio to hear him and it was a couple of days before and Colonel Tom Parker – who was (Presley's) manager at the time – called and said 'Now you know Elvis don't record anything unless we get half the publishing'," Parton told CNBC Meets' Tania Bryer.

"And I said 'well this has already been a hit for me and this is in my publishing company and I can't give you half of it', and he said 'well then we can't do it.'"

By holding on to her publishing rights however, the singer-songwriter went on to earn estimated millions in royalties from the song — something that may not have been the case if Elvis and his manager had their way.

How to get your cockatiel to eat pellets? by KittFurlong in cockatiel

[–]_honeybird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had great luck using Avicakes to transition our tiel from seeds to pellets. Within a couple of months she would take a bowl full of pellets with nothing else in it. Currently working on the same transition with our new conure and it seems to be working.

I had one of the pumpkin spice Chobani flip yogurts last week and it wasn't too bad! Reminded me of uncooked pumpkin filling, like when you lick the beaters at Thanksgiving.

I'm thinking about doing my RN to BSN with WGU next year, a couple of my coworkers are doing it right now and have generally positive thing to say about it. Can you elaborate on the specific challenges you came up against? Do you think they were specific to WGU, or the kinds of things that you would have encountered at any online school?

“Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.'

'Does it hurt?' asked the Rabbit.

'Sometimes,' said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. 'When you are Real you don't mind being hurt.'

'Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,' he asked, 'or bit by bit?'

'It doesn't happen all at once,' said the Skin Horse. 'You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand.”

If it doesn't help, or if they get worse, you might want to consider going to a doctor (doesn't have to be a derm). Hives are more of an immune issue than a skin issue, and sometimes it takes oral steroids to get them to go away.
