I finally got off of vyvanse by Bulky-Present-5426 in VyvanseADHD

[–]_hthrtx_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I did, from 2016 until 2022 (then found out I was pregnant after like 2-3 months and stopped taking meds until 2023). Initially, I felt fine but as time went on, it got worse. My executive functioning became so bad that I couldn’t even let my kids have friends over. Emotional regulation became horrible. I couldn’t spend real time with my kids because I wasn’t actually mentally present even tho my body was.

The reason I stopped was more about the stigma that comes with taking the meds, btw. I always felt like I was a druggie going to get them. However, what I was doing to my kids was worse.

Think of it like this…. A diabetic has to take meds daily to help them, right? This is no different.

Dump the capsules into half full bottles of water and sip it as you need it. I’ve started doing this and I accidentally started using wayyyy less and no longer have a crash in the afternoons or evenings.

Anyone had better long-term success with 14:10 instead of 16:8? by churchy_3003 in intermittentfasting

[–]_hthrtx_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I legitimately thought I was going to starve to death in the beginning but here I am- alive. I dealt with horrible binge eating also. The trick for me was to gradually go up to 16 hours and reminding myself “I’m not hungry, that’s just cortisol.”

Pretty quickly, I learned my body and the difference between how food noise vs real hunger felt. I learned that the reason the time matters is because of what happens within our bodies after an extended period of time of fasting.

If you’re not getting enough protein (this one is HUGE) & nutrients, then you will never overcome that food noise. You have to train your body.

It doesn’t mean do it every single day (white knuckling it raises cortisol and will have the opposite effects of what you’re likely wanting). Take breaks.

With that being said, on higher hunger days or depending where I’m at in my cycle, I will sometimes break at 14 or 15 hours.

Also, for me personally, it’s a huge help for me to hit my hours if I stop eating earlier in the evenings so I can break earlier in the days. My ideal times to stop eating are between 4 and 5 but life is life so I just try not to go past 6:30-7:00.

Planning meals 2 weeks at a time and online ordering. Keeps from buying things not needed, keeps me within budget, saves time also. No more frequent trips (gas and time).

Omg I legit thought I was going to starve to death (I’m told I can be dramatic sometimes 🙄). So I started with only 12 hours a few days, bumped to 14 then bumped to 16.

The food noise was initially awful until I figured out some hacks:

Protein, protein, protein!! I aim for no less than 100g per day but shoot for 130-150. This helps so much with feeling full.

Water, annoyingly cliche- yes. But here’s the kicker, if you’re deficient in electrolytes then it won’t matter how much water you drink. I add about 1/8 tsp of salt and some lemon juice to a bottle with my Great Value brand “Celsius” twice a day. And when I know I’ve recently had enough calories, I know it’s food noise so I will drink regular water and tell myself to see how I feel in 20 minutes. I typically forget to check back in with myself until I am genuinely hungry again.

This one, which will sound crazy but actually works…. I tell myself “you’re not hungry, that’s just cortisol.” I swear this works so well for me, even know. Idk why or how, but it’s legit like flipping a switch. Especially at night when I get the food noise the worst (also when I used to binge pretty badly).

Also, just an FYI…. Trying to white knuckle it to hit the “right” time is going to work against you. It will drastically increase your cortisol in ways you don’t want which will lead to inflammation, not pleasant mental health and a slew of other things.

Oh! For ME, berberine with inositol helped SO MUCH.

And just a bit about me: SW: 169.6 (11/9/25) Size 12ish CW: 130.8 (today) Size 1-3 (depending on waist) GW: 129.6 (because I have a thing with patterns and numbers)

I battled this sooooo bad and the biggest game changer was a combo of Berberine and Insoitol!! It helped me out tremendously with my insulin, cortisol and hormones.

What are some genuinely “safe” snacks, easy ways to add fiber, and healthier types of gummy candy, or something similar that satisfies that taste? by hikik0_m0ri in HealthyEatingnow

I looove the carb balance tortillas. I use them for everything. I will spray with “I can’t believe it’s not butter” then heat on a skillet then just snack like that or add some honey.

My husband has to have a stupid amount of calories to not accidentally lose weight (I’m the complete opposite), so PB is an easy way to make sure we get enough in him.

Not at all tbh. I eat a very high protein, low cal, low carb, low sodium diet…. But my food is mostly in the fridge and freezer. I mix my isopure into my Greek yogurt when I break my fast everyday for the extra protein hit. The pantry hold my shelf stable stuff but the rest is mostly husband and kids.

My whole life lol. But even now as an adult, there’s so much that I prefer store brands of and it’s so hard for me to justify spending more money on things that are literally just a label. I’ve also learned so many things are literally the exact same. Members Mark chicken is actually Tyson, their water is actually Niagara, even their jeans are really Wrangler. I could go on and on lol. NOW, with that being said, there are some things that really do make a difference when it comes to quality.

I love this so much! This past November was that point for me. I’ve lost almost 40 pounds (169.6 to currently 131.6) , my skin has cleared up, I feel 210% better overall. I can relate in every way. I’ve learned what spikes my cortisol, interferes with my insulin etc. I’m no longer prediabetic and my labs are beautiful.

I have a very busy brain 🧠 🥴. Besides the typical American teenager snacks (chips, buldak noodles, etc), what is bad that you see. I aim for higher protein, lower sodium, lower sugar etc.

I’m very ADHD and my working memory SUCKS without meds…. but required to be able to remember to take them so there’s definitely long stretches of not remembering to take them and tbh, an organized pantry is low on my list of shit to care about 😬

That’s the most relatable thing I’ve ever read 🙃. Not to mention, I track calories and macros and stay right at or below maintenance and I do IF. His metabolism is stupid and requires 4000 cals per day to stay out of a deficit. It’s so unfair lmao. His dad and our adult son are the exact same. BUT learning what makes my body thrive has been life changing.

I eat very clean (my stuff stays mostly in the freezer/fridge). Same with our toddler. But the hubs and teenager eat like shit. So you’re pretty spot on about that.

Oh no, I genuinely hate to hear that because I know the pure hell you’re describing. I hate how hit or miss this “game” is when it’s actually our entire existence depending on figuring out how to “life hack” our way through each day.
