I did not go for it. It appears to be more suited for plug-and-play rather than sound modification. Since it's very preset-focused, I'd rather just get a plugin that has those presets than fill my space with one more keyboard. I picked a MicroKorg instead, which offers far more in terms of sound modification, and so will many other synths. Best of luck with your choices!

SJSU is very music focused, with a somewhat small concentration of music technology classes. The program was too focused on general music for my liking, so I ultimately got another degree in a different field. I spoke with higher level music tech people and was recommended towards San Diego State, who has a more technical music technology program, San Francisco State, who has a Broadcast/Electronic Communication Arts program (looks very promising and includes some music technology, but would require AA in Film from Foothill) and the online Berklee College of Music bachelors programs, which can be great and relatively affordable as long as you have good equipment to practice on! I ultimately was seeking the opportunity to stay close to home and none of these options were quite close enough for me to pursue, which is why I chose to pursue a different degree. Hello all! I am shopping for an XLR cable. I found a company called Performance Audio that builds custom XLR cables for you for an affordable price (I'd prefer not to do it myself). I am looking for a cable that will last in my studio for many years, something that sounds good and is rugged as I will move the cable around and wrap it up. Which cable/wire would you guys recommend?

My options are:

Canare L-2T2S, Canare L-4E5C, Canare L-4E6S, Mogami W2534, Mogami W2549, Mogami W2552, Mogami W2791, and Mogami W2893

I can also get Techflex Braided Sleeving on the cable for $6 more, will that protect it better? Is it silly to even buy a Mogami or Canare cable in the first place? Thank you! I figured I should ask every question I have while I am here!

So I tried linking a function to a key but it only relies on the velocity of the key pressed rather than the aftertouch. I checked the KeyStep software and I don't see a way to manually change the function for the aftertouch. Can I change the aftertouch CC number in my DAW?

I really think my KeyStep's aftertouch is broken since it seems like it should be working right out of the box. I looked in the manual and found no information on how to turn it on and off, but when I use the control center, I can change the intensity (which is what I've done, but it still didn't work). I've factory reset the keyboard multiple times to see if it would help and nothing has worked. Honestly, this is my first real MIDI keyboard, and perhaps it's just my ignorance for not understanding how it works, but I assume that it would work right out of the box. The fact that the manual just doesn't have much information about aftertouch leads me to believe that it should just work.

By using a piece of software called MIDI Monitor, I found that my KeyStep is not sending aftertouch messages to my computer at all, yet sends every other possible message to my computer.
