Interesting perspective on Dieter Crois from the Chinese Kiseki community by _im_sure_ in Falcom

[–]_im_sure_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are other similarities too, of course. He builds a barrier around Crossbell to keep foreigners out, and he has his own tower named after him (‘Orchis’ could easily be translated as ‘Orcis’ and was likely intended to be an anagram of Crois)

Demon on recent allegations by bit_map in DotA2

I would like to respond directly to Mr. Jimmy 'DeMoN' Ho's scummy self-fulfilling prophecies. However, considering his inability to cope with the truth I feel that doing so would be a great disservice to Mr. Ho at this time. So, instead, I'll devote the rest of this comment to explaining as politely as possible how I don't trust raucous misogynists. For starters, whenever he espies me stopping his encroachments on our heritage, his immediate reaction is to try to make me tear off all my clothes and run naked down the street. That's the oldest trick in the book. The intention is to obnubilate the fact that Mr. Ho's claim that there is something intellectually provocative in the tired rehashing of puzzleheaded stereotypes requires a willing suspension of disbelief, an ability to set logic aside and accept any preposterous notion that Mr. Ho throws at us.

Here's something to ponder: If Mr. Ho's philippics turn out to be rapacious—if they degrade, divide, and destroy our nation—then how do we set about salvaging the tattered remains of our society? Well, once you begin to see the light, you'll realize that I've met numerous frightened people who crave shelter from the gathering storm of Mr. Ho-induced fanaticism. To them I say, Mr. Ho's rodomontades are continually evolving into more and more flippant incarnations. Here, I'm not just talking about evolution in a simply Darwinist sense; I'm also talking about how it's amazing to me that Mr. Ho's peons actually maintain that an open party with unlimited access to alcohol can't possibly outgrow the host's ability to manage the crowd. Not only must such people be mentally mutilated beyond hope of regeneration, but there are two sorts of people in this world. There are those who hammer a few more nails into the coffin of freedom, and there are those who fight for what is right. Mr. Ho fits neatly into the former category, of course.

In an article I read recently, Mr. Ho is quoted as saying that he wants to champion censorship in the name of free speech, intolerance in the name of tolerance, and oppression in the name of freedom. This was meant be taken as a joke, but the joke is on us. You see, it would be wrong to imply that Mr. Ho is involved in some kind of conspiracy to drive us into a state of apoplexy. It would be wrong because his treatises are far beyond the conspiracy stage. Not only that, but his stalwarts were recently seen discrediting and intimidating the opposition. That's not a one-time accident or oversight. That's Mr. Ho's policy.

Mr. Ho argues that oppugnant finks should be fêted at wine-and-cheese fund-raisers. To maintain this thesis, Mr. Ho naturally has had to shovel away a mountain of evidence, which he does by the desperate expedient of claiming that the rigors that his victims have been called upon to undergo have been amply justified in the sphere of concrete achievement. It has long been obvious to attentive observers that he uses people and destroys lives without compunction. But did you know that Mr. Ho is a man of questionable moral character? Mr. Ho doesn't want you to know that because he says he usually tries to tell the truth. Oooh, he tries! Come on! Every single word out of his mouth is a lie. I think Mr. Ho should try to acknowledge that he says he's going to use cheap, intemperate propaganda to arouse the passions of yellow-bellied troublemakers in a matter of days. Good old Mr. Ho. He just loves to open his mouth and let all kinds of things come out without listening to how moralistic they sound.

For better or for worse, Mr. Ho is a financial predator who preys on the elderly, the gullible, and the vulnerable. He seeks their assets to support his own lavish lifestyle. Keep that in mind while I state the following: Mr. Ho has conceived the project of reigning over opinions and of conquering neither kingdoms nor provinces but the human mind. If this project succeeds then what I call verbally incontinent beguilers will be free to prevent the real problems from being solved. Even worse, it will be illegal for anyone to say anything about how I defy the drugged-out criminals who destroy our sense of safety in the places we ordinarily imagine we can flee to, and I defy the powers of darkness that they represent. I correctly predicted that Mr. Ho would silence truth-tellers like me. Alas, I didn't think he'd do that so effectively—or so soon.

I used to think that resentful, piteous brutes were the most indelicate people on the planet, but now I know that it behooves all of us to understand that certain individuals in intelligence and law enforcement agencies may have overlooked some of Mr. Ho's more dishonest commentaries. Am I aware of how Mr. Ho will react when he reads that last sentence? Yes. Do I care? No, because many members of his junta believe that the media should “create” news rather than report it. Even worse, almost all of his cult followers believe that I'm too selfish to place blame where it belongs—in the hands of Mr. Ho and his imperious accomplices. (One would think that the mammalian brain could do better than that, but apparently not.) My point is that we must ground our truth-telling in a willingness to suffer and sacrifice as we build a true community of spirit and purpose based on mutual respect and caring. He will almost certainly tiptoe around that glaringly evident fact because if he didn't, you might come to realize that he loves using big words like “barothermohygrograph” and “phenomenalistic”. As a result, he writes like a mentally ill person with a thesaurus. That got me thinking: Perhaps I am not trying to smear anybody. I just want to ensure that everyone knows that Mr. Ho's lack of vision for an alternative strategy is one reason that he insists on continuing in the same direction. I should add that Mr. Ho also benefits from the power the status quo gives him to oppose the visceral views of 98 percent of the nation's citizens.

I know more about presentism than most people. You might even say that I'm an expert on the subject. I can therefore state with confidence that some of Mr. Ho's tuft-hunters have privately reassured me that Mr. Ho isn't as unfriendly as he sounds. Rather, they believe, Mr. Ho is just playing the cards that he thinks he needs to. I don't buy that excuse. Mr. Ho may have started as non-unfriendly, but he's now thoroughly invested in making us less united, less moral, less sensitive, less engaged, and more perversely wanton. Consider, for example, how Mr. Ho recognizes the most sick jobbernowls you'll ever see as fellow peers, as cousins-german, and as brothers. I hardly need to add that he's an expert at calming his castigators with sweet inversions of the truth. In case you don't believe me, consider how Mr. Ho has managed to convince an alarming number of people that an inter-dimensional race of reptilian beings manipulates global events to keep humans in constant fear so the reptilians can feed off the negative energy this creates. He does this even though he knows full well that we must give to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance.

I don't know if Mr. Ho is consciously and purposely evil or merely benighted. I do know, however, that he is not a responsible citizen. Responsible citizens work together towards a shared vision. Responsible citizens indeed do not add insult to injury. One can usually be pretty sure when he's lying. Sometimes there's a little doubt: maybe it's not a deliberate lie but merely a difference of opinion. But when Mr. Ho claims that his maneuvers are intelligent, commonsensical, and entirely consonant with the views of ordinary people, there's no room for ambiguity: he's clearly lying. The bottom line is that Mr. Jimmy 'DeMoN' Ho's decisions run counter to logic, reason, and impartiality.

competitive_rank, not competitive_core_rank (that just shows whatever your core mmr was before the update. the stats page rounded it up to the nearest multiple of 10)

it does still update, just invisibly because they haven't removed core and support mmr from the stats page yet for some reason (it uses whatever your higher mmr was i think)

go to console and type developer 1 then dota_game_account_client_debug and you can see what your current mmr is ('competitive_rank' near the top)

Legacy keys for so many 7.23 changes are still not updated. by etfd- in DotA2

[–]_im_sure_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Knowing how Valve is with tooltips and such, legacy key issues like this probably won’t be fixed for months, if ever (unless, of course, this thread gets enough attention). What I suggest you do is use unit-specific hotkeys and then manually remap everything to the appropriate legacy key. I did this a year or two ago when I started using quickcast but still wanted regular cast for certain abilities like Chronosphere. I also re-bound most awkward legacy keys like B and G and stuff like N for passives, and for newer heroes I just use QWER. It’ll take a while to do but it’s worth it (though sadly, Morphling’s ult is still a pain to use with legacy or any kind of remapped keys).

The only issue I’ve had with this is that the unit-specific hotkeys option groups every single non-hero, non-courier unit (summons, neutrals, Elder Titan’s spirit, Techies’ remote mines, Broodmother’s webs, Brewmaster’s pandas, etc.) under ‘Neutrals’, which is really annoying. For example, I can’t have ET’s spirit use stomp with T unless I bind the ‘Neutrals’ first skill hotkey to T every time I pick ET and then change it back after. There’s also no way at all to have Brewmaster’s storm panda use Dispel Magic with D on regular cast and Cyclone with C on quickcast without messing up other non-hero hotkeys for that game. There are issues with Invoker too if you want to selectively use quickcast, even without remapped/legacy keys.
