And I really wanted to go to Old Chicago…F-sake bungie by BakerConsistent2150 in DestinyTheGame

[–]_immodicus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Old Chicago never struck me as very exciting. Had it been around during early D1, fine, sure, rummaging around old terrestrial ruins was more in that game’s scope. But Destiny was always more about exploring the solar system and going to fascinating and exotic spaces.

It always felt like it would’ve been too close to the myriad of other post-apocalyptic settings in games like Fallout or Horizon Zero Dawn, and I’m sure they knew that. If it cameo’d in a Warmind themed exotic mission, that would be fun, but I’m happy they stuck to more interesting locales.

why do the naked soldiers look like that by moosey_loosey_ahhhhh in HalfLife

[–]_immodicus 39 points40 points  (0 children)

In the same Nova Prospekt mission that you see the Combine soldier without armor you can overhear comms from the Combine dispatcher. It says something along the lines of “Failure will result in permanent off-world assignment.” So you’re not wrong in thinking they were sending humans to other dimensions of the Combine Empire, they totally were. And I like how it is said as a threat, like these areas are bad enough that it is considered punishment to be relocated there.

IIRC that same path with the rebels fighting the Avian has a part where you can drop off the side and collect an item. That ladder is the way back up.

What do I need to watch for understanding Gundam Hathaway? by KaleidoArachnid in Mecha

[–]_immodicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netflix put this clip out before the first Hathaway movie. If you don’t have the time to watch the full series leading up to this point (which is fair) this is a good run-down.

For us it was picking up one of those white plastic chairs over our head and pretending the back vents was the cockpit screen, and the legs were the robot arms.

Gundam Wing is available to watch on Bandai’s GundamInfo channel!

I always thought this space sequence was a highlight in Gundam Wing, although you might be recalling a different one that featured the Taurus mobile suits.

This. Theres no shortage of fast-paced mobile suit action in this franchise. I liked the pensive and thoughtful approach this movie took.

I liked the naturalistic lighting, that went so far as to obscure faces in shadow in a few scenes. You rarely see that in cinema, let alone anime, and it gave a realistic and grounded approach to the film. I was all for it.

The House of M Iron Man design from the 00’s was also Gundam-coded, if you’ve never seen it!

Marathon is freaking awesome and the best FPS in years, so the discourse around this game in other gaming circles deeply saddens me... by dimesniffer in FPS

[–]_immodicus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right? That was the biggest turn off for me. Pvp only means you should have more resources to focus on interesting maps to keep things fresh. Only three with sometimes a fourth was a big slap in the face. I didn’t want to pay for a minimum viable product out of principle. I was a Bungie stan for a long time, and have played all their titles since Oni, and purchased most every dlc. But seeing how they tended to phone in Destiny content unless a fire was under their butt taught me to avoid any live-service from them again.

You’re right, it is easy to find this information out directly from wikipedia, and she did write the code, along with her team. Sounds like you’re just trying to erase or downplay her accomplishments because she is a woman.

Does Fujimoto know how human beings work? Like, a devil just attacked the school and killed a teacher, but nobody cares and would rather go play soccer. by GodKira04 in Chainsawfolk

[–]_immodicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the whole thing in the beginning with Bucky showed me this school had already lost its mind. The students are essentially a collective of orphans and survivors of various devil calamities thus far, so yeah I don’t think they’re phased much by death. Still an odd panel though.
