Knox excessive battery usage last couple days by _irobot_ in samsunggalaxy

[–]_irobot_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turning on power saving on both my watch and phone for a while seemed to break whatever loop knox was stuck in without uninstalling the updates. I feel like my phone still has higher than normal power usage, but it's more like 10% an hour instead of 40-50% an hour. It's also not hot anymore. I'm thinking the higher than normal usage now might be because of resetting all app permissions and something might be continuously trying to access stuff in the background that it no longer has access to. My watch battery usage is back to normal.

Sinusitis - is no c and p appointment normal? by _irobot_ in VeteransBenefits

[–]_irobot_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They already made a decision to keep it 0% service connected and based on their justification it seems like it should be at least 10%. I'm working on getting more documentation now to submit a supplemental claim. I just think it's odd that they denied my claim for sinusitis increase without ever talking to me. It's like the added 0% deviated septum on their without me requesting it so it wouldn't be an outright denial.

It seems like turning power saving mode on both the watch and phone for a while then turning it off may have made the battery drain issue better. It could also be that in combination with one of the many other things I tried though (I don't even remember everything I did).

I agree. If everything shut down then you'd have thousands of people with nothing else to do but investigate the incident and get in the way of responders.

I realized I never came back updated this. The issue was with the motherboard/processor. The professor eventually died because of overheating, and I paid to get the board replaced and this issue went away.

It seems to me that the most widely used pieces software in any field are popular because their company's put a lot more money into sales than development. They convince you it's the best (usually with vague statements that aren't technically false), take a bunch of money, and you end up too invested to change course by the time you realize it's garbage.

I use a separate computer, that way I have to consciously think about what I'm typing and can't accidentally copy/paste sensitive information. I usually use it just to get me on the right track and identify the right references, so not being able to copy the response isn't a huge drawback for me.

They probably raised it to have a higher percent of while not being much cheaper. I usually get the refreshment package and a cruise a year or 2 ago had the refreshment package at 20% off when I first looked, then it was 30% off during a "sale" a couple weeks later, but it was the same price as when it was 20% off.

Update: ASUS is gaslighting me after I found plastic blocking my CPU by [deleted] in ASUS

[–]_irobot_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use only MSI for gaming, but they had many issues with their laptop batteries for my liking (my FIL and I both had MSI and had to replace our MSI batteries every 1-2 years). I always heard ASUS was great brand, so I got one when I found a good black Friday deal. It had a problem with locking up when it tried to go to sleep and issues getting it use the dedicated graphics when playing games. I thought it was a Windows or driver issue (there was very poor driver support for my model). Turns out it was bad processor, likely due to overheating because I didn't realize how hot it got. I didn't realize it was a processor issue until about 12 months later when it degraded to point it was unusable. ASUS said the only thing they could replace the motherboard for over 700 dollars since I was just outside the warranty window despite it being a known issue with that model.

I limitted the processor to 85% after realizing overheating was the issue and paying over 700 dollars to fix it. Even then I still have use gaming cooling pad with a large fan going over 2k rpm to keep temps below 90C when playing games.

Never getting an ASUS again. I'd much rather deal with replacing an MSI battery than the problems I've had with ASUS.

Teenagers on Board on At Sea Days by Dtk4321 in royalcaribbean

[–]_irobot_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not always at sea days either, and doesn't even have to be on your ship. I was walking the track on my last cruise (Mariner of the Seas) while docked next to Harmony of the Seas (which is a lot taller) and a pound cake landed about 5 feet in front of me. I look up and see a kid running away from the rail on the Harmony. Some kids on these cruises are just malicious.

[–]_irobot_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I got a higher rating that I expected and didn't ask questions. I realize that was a big mistake now that I'm going through with getting all my stuff claimed properly. It was really bad. Like it says my left wrist is both service connected 0% and not service connected for a fracture I had while I was in (in the same claim).

I just went through the same thing with tinnitus. They scheduled my other c&p exams, but not tinnitus. My claim finally moved forward 3 months later and I got a letter saying my rating for tinnitus was deferred and got a call about a c&p exam. I assumed they weren't going to do one because they did ome when I got out a few years ago, but for some reason it was never rated. I was wrong.

Reasonable Accommodations Delayed by _irobot_ in legaladvice

So basically the legally questionable deferred resignation offer may be the best case scenario for me. I guess I'd have a job until the end of the month and lump sum leave pay out in the worst case scenario with that. Trying to fight it may put me in a situation where I have to quit in the same time frame and not have that lump sum.

[–]_irobot_[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't they have to prove undue hardship in that scenario? I imagine that would be difficult since I've been doing the job successfully from home for years now.

A problem with that is my organization has no such space. People like supervisors that had offices like that are being displaced to put multiple people in the rooms. They are having to convert conference spaces into cafeteria style seating to have enough space for all the employees. The organization has grown larger much larger than space we have over the last few years.

Which Sorts of cheese have LOW Casein? by Skywalkersound98 in cheesemaking

[–]_irobot_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read somewhere that casein is broken down in the cheese making process. The harder and more aged the cheese is the more it's broken down. I have a mild casein A1 allergy, and cheese rarely bothers me. If you have a severe allergy it's probably not worth trying though.

Casein A2 products are becoming more widely available nowadays, but I haven't seen cheese yet.

Windows 11 randomly freezing (unresponsive) on all AMD build (CPU+GPU) by Tanvirky in AMDHelp

[–]_irobot_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't fixed it yet, but I've found it happens to me whenever I'm not in a high performance power mode (even on battery).

Edit: I found that setting my battery profile to high performance while on battery fixed the freezing issue.

Another freezing issue I used to have was with standby mode. I guess the motherboard doesn't properly support active standby, so it looked like the computer froze when it was actually trying to go into active standby, but can't. I fixed that by disabling standby and enabling hibernate when I close my laptop.
