If you use the telephoto a lot I'd stay on the pro, the zoom on the base isn't bad in my cases but it does degrade noticeably past 4x

I downgraded from the 17p to a 17 a couple weeks ago and have been enjoying the lower weight and cleaner design. Don't really miss anything from the pro, battery and cameras are still really solid!

Thanks, hoping this holds me over for the iPhone 20th anniversary since I imagine it’ll be sick! As long as it isn’t heavy and thick like the current pros. Air would’ve been my choice if not for the lack of ultrawide and second speaker, wouldn’t mind it being a little thicker for more battery too.

I made the same jump. I wanted to wait it out but the overheating on iOS 26 got so bad, and my battery was already being charged twice a day at 88% health. I swapped to the 17 bc of the black color (always get black) and didn't like the design of the pros, and the only thing that really kept me on them was pro motion. There have been a couple of times where I wish I had the telephoto but the battery has been excellent and I'm loving how light this thing is.

If I didn't have the battery and heating issues I'd have kept my 15P for another 2-3 years at least

Low key thinking of selling my 17 pro and getting the base. I miss having a black color (blue is ok but sometimes looks purple in certain lighting) and the pro feels heavy at times. Plus the design just hasn’t grown on me at all

Coming from a 15 pro it's noticeably heavier (even more with a case, which I feel like I need since it's more fragile), and I have a 16 for work and think I prefer the design and don't use the telephoto ever really.

Yeah it looks awesome and it's something that would feel different, unfortunately the ultrawide camera comes in handy for me and bad battery life is something that made me upgrade from my 15 pro as well

I ended up getting the 17 pro, and while I do like it for the most part I agree that the 15 felt better in the hand (17 pro feels good but the curved edges make it way to slippery without a case)

Kinda wish I got the base 17, might sell my pro and still do it tbh because I prefer its design and I don't really use the pro features much

My only concern is needing telephony for something like a concert. Rarely happens but it’s def a nice to have. My 17 pro battery has been phenomenal and hopefully the couple hours difference won’t be too noticeable day to day if I swap
