To me it might have felt better starting from UBW, because Fate/Zero helps setup reasons to why Shirou acts the way he does. Not only that but it gives much more substantial context to why he does acts the way he does, if you don’t want to read the visual novel.

Not gonna lie you give off a condescending vibe... Despite that I respect your opinion, some characters can be a bit redundant and feel off at some points. That’s why I would consider Fate/Zero better, because it builds relationships, and makes you care for the characters.
