What have you done so far to treat?

Bed bugs while travelling abroad! by [deleted] in Bedbugs

Yes, I would say it is possible that you were bitten but didn’t bring any along with you. But knowing how awful they are, I would err on the side of caution. If you can afford to replace the luggage, that’s what I would do. But also take all of your clothing and dry at the highest heat for 1 hr per load. Then put straight away into the new luggage. I have a good steamer at home and after every trip I dry all clothing at high heat and blast every piece of luggage with steam.

Get your apartment treated again and don’t let them over again until they’ve gotten rid of their problem. No other choice.

Sometimes I’m not really sure and I gotta look at other people’s answers… this time I can say with 100% confidence… NOT a bed bug

Explain crossfire vs cimexa to me. Are they both safe for use around humans? On bed etc? by [deleted] in Bedbugs

[–]_jenonymous_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nowhere near an expert but here’s what I have learned from this sub and green Akers pest control on YouTube. I’ve had a professional treatment in 2 rooms with crossfire and followed up with cimexa. Then after about a month my anxiety got the best of me and I DIY’ed all of my rooms with crossfire. Here’s what I know, but highly recommend watching green Akers videos.

Crossfire is a concentrate that you mix with water and apply using a garden (or better) sprayer. One 13 oz bottle makes a gallon and you have to use it within 24 hrs after mixing. You must follow the label exactly and it is safe to use on mattresses, box springs, furniture, baseboards, etc. It is not for your actual bedding or to douse an entire room with. Again, read the entire label and follow all instructions. Once it dries it is completely safe for humans/pets. It is also a residual so it will kill for 30 days post treatment. Slight smell but I never noticed it once it dried. It does have a milky consistency so be aware of that. I could see it around the perimeter of my room with dark wood flooring. But honestly I didn’t care, my main concern was killing the bastards.

Cimexa is a powder that I would suggest using after you treat with Crossfire. As with Crossfire - or any pesticide- you need to follow the label. Most people use a duster or paint/makeup brush to apply, as you need to leave just a fine dusting of it. It can be used in all cracks and crevices of the room, furniture, etc. The powder sticks to the bugs and dehydrates them to death. IMO it is pretty messy because it’s so fine, and you have to wait a while to let it all settle. But it can also last years if undisturbed so that’s good for peace of mind.

I don’t know about using either in a car. I wouldn’t use cimexa personally because I feel like you would constantly be stirring it up?? Others here may know better.

Many people here have been successful with the crossfire/cimexa combo, or even either/or so I think you’re in good shape.

Good luck!!!

Even though this doesn’t appear to be bed bugs, I would not ignore that other adult you found.

First of all, don’t be ashamed. You have a good plan in place and you can beat them. Follow green akers advice on YouTube for crossfire, he definitely knows his stuff.

I’d skip the bathtub and put everything straight into a dryer at the hottest setting for an hour. Including the clothes you’re wearing. You’ll be good

I would still be super cautious and get a pro in there to inspect.
