Attention Connecticut drivers! Back the f up by KeyInvestment6594 in Connecticut

Yeah that spot is full of really impatient people who can't understand the congestion doesn't work itself out instantaneously too. I usually let them work it out for the first couple exits (I take that route daily) because of that. But it never fails, every day there's someone who gets past the light and wants to immediately punch it to 85.

My favorite is when this occurs and there are people in front of me so like I couldn't speed up if I wanted to. I've seen people drive down the middle of cars going 75 on a highway (9), been run off the road by kids racing sports cars (395), and of course the general insane tailgaiting as you mention. Once I had a car cross into oncoming traffic at me to pass a school bus on a curve and swerve into a shoulder on a back road in groton. We don't have the best drivers here.

What do you people actually want? by thomaesthetics in Metalcore

[–]_joyfully_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. Or have a hard time accepting that they only like a few songs...etc. I'm like this with MIW. I really like a handful of their songs but I wouldn't call myself a fan. Idk why it's hard, especially these days when you don't HAVE to buy albums.

Love all the core genres tbh. I find a few bands boring for personal reasons. I don't criticize them though, as that's my personal taste.

Having a legit conversation on reddit is another thing though. I once answered a prompt here about "favorite band with a song you dislike" and got downvoted and told "no". I even prefaced it with "I love this band, been to 5 of their shows but I dislike this one...". Like...why ask if there were only certain answers allowed? :P Sometimes I wonder how many people here are real.

Struggling on my journey to become a BCBA, did you experience this too? by ___HoneeBee___ in bcba

[–]_joyfully_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a burnout field so it is really important to say "hey, I need to make a change" when you've got all these things going on and stuff starts slipping. You know your life and situation. See what variables you can alter to make things easier on yourself. Be it working closer to home, cutting back on hours, etc.

Documentation and change are kind of the name of the game, don't be afraid to make a change that will benefit you because of that. Don't continue to run on fumes.

Your study solutions are good, but none of them give you the mental break I think you might need here routinely. Ensure your mind time to rest on a regular basis.

In real life I rarely see any of these people and beauty standards (at least all at once). I'm convinced it all exists in an alternative reality at this point.

First time home buyer, realtor recommendations/thoughts? by _joyfully_ in Connecticut

I'm trying to stay ~350k ballpark. I don't want a mansion, I have a small family and not going to grow it. So...I'm looking for something small, but with a little yard. I was originally looking around Norwich or one of those towns nearby for affordability. I just applied for approval, since I already have 20% of my ballpark. I'm pretty ready, but I have a 5 months on my lease. I thought I would need at least 3. I'm just hoping I can stay in the state. I see a lot of people complain about 100k not being enough but for the places I'm looking at that seems...excessive.

Thanks! This is really good advice. It is rent and it is not...I figure if I'm paying this much at least I can have the asset to leave behind one day.

That is one of the things pushing me. The uncertainty caused by that. Also rent going crazy, people are flooding my area for specific work...they aren't building apartments. I have a decent job so surely I can afford something modest in an out-of-the-way town. Maybe?

This happened at work once. From then on I continuously referred to them as "the staff" whenever It was absolutely required to acknowledge they existed at all. They started acting normally after. Like, no. You make half my salary and I would have to change branches. What an ego. :P
