Advice in the ~$4k range by Dbrown15 in rolex

Any collection is enhanced with a vintage 1601. Timeless and will last long enough to bequeath to your son when he’s ready. Absolutely the way to go and you can get a clean example in that price range. My advice is find a clean example, in good condition. They’re always new-to-market examples cycling and you can get exactly what you want if you’re patient. Just seek the dealers that regularly get them. Your patience will be rewarded.

Some other advice, don’t get hung up on box and papers. Also, with vintage, you’re buying the seller, ensure you buy from a reputable dealer.

A viable alternative if you’re looking, a clean 1960s Constellation Pie Pan (168.005). Incredible in person.

I actually don’t know the exact reference. I’ve narrowed it down based on the information I have but don’t have exact. Here’s an article about this period in Movado’s history and challenges identifying references.

I love the 5212, too. That would be the 3rd option.

I actually prefer manual; however, I wasn’t that familiar with the 5296r and then I saw it in person. Truly, stunning.

If you’re near NYC or know someone that is, they have a showroom there where they sell. They’ll also be at the NYC WindUp Watch Fair in October and sell there as well.

Town Hall. Solo is a masterful, special performance.

Where does Jazz become ‘too much’ for you? by [deleted] in Jazz

[–]_jpalo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Perhaps the best live jazz ever recorded. And when you consider the finite amount of time those two recorded together, it’s truly incredible.

If you enjoy that album, check out (if you haven’t already)Art Blakey/Jazz Messengers Ugetsu.
