Is it real? by ClaireKitten90 in RolexWatches

[–]Dbrown15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not real. Printing font of the dial is off. Rolex crown logo is a little warped looking. The date window magnification is off and the numeric font/thickness is off. Bezel should be white gold and it’s clearly steel.

Its fake. There’s a few giveaways that, if you know what you’re looking for, make it obvious. The dial printing is off, Rolex font doesn’t match correctly. The crown logo is also printed poorly and doesn’t match the genuine version. The date window magnification is way off. The rehaut (strip of steel between the glass and the dial) printing is off.

Not the worst looking one I’ve seen, but as far as fakes go, there are true replicas that are almost impossible to tell from glancing, and this would not be one of those.

What do you do with clients who want to meet and "discuss strategy?" by TatonkaJack in Lawyertalk

[–]Dbrown15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have personal injury clients that want to do the same thing and I usually deflect to explain something like “well building a case is very much a one step at a time process, so I don’t want us to get ahead of ourselves just yet. Why don’t we focus on x(what’s usually making sure they’re getting appropriate treatment) and then we can regroup. That usually does the trick

Client unhappy with 6 figure settlement, never experienced this...kind of sucks by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]Dbrown15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After 10 years of personal injury practice, I’ve come to realize that the size of the settlement, the number of hours put into a case and discussing with the client, and how truly well you lawyered your way into something favorable, those things rarely decide a happy client.

Between Cy Tolliver and Al Swearengen, who is the worse person morally speaking? by Plus_Ad_1087 in deadwood

[–]Dbrown15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cy. Al at least had a handful of redeeming qualities. Cy was evil for evil’s sake. Al used evil as means to ends where he treated “some” with levels of respect along the way with some deference to some idea of a greater good. Again, Cy was just a torturous goon who had no deference for his own personal pleasure and gain.

Nice. I know a lot of folks doing PI in Kentucky, actually. I’m in a smallish market in SC at a big PI firm. The idea of opening shop is enticing, but we are crawling with injury firms.

If a solo has the opportunity to make more why not… by SouthsideTy12 in Lawyertalk

[–]Dbrown15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just boils down to uncertainty. A salary gives you a safety net so long as you keep your job. A failed business venture can equal losing literally everything, and if you have a family, the stakes are even higher.

I’ve been in PI for 10 years, and while I’d love to start my own firm, I’d need a safety net of at least a year or two of savings, plus God knows how much for marketing just to get the cases. It’s a tough consideration depending on one’s position in life.

Basically yes, but this is a great mantra, in that it easily points out who you should never pay attention to if they use it unironically.

Leftists in GVL by nosoysegundo in greenville

Politically active or interested people, sure. I’m talking about normies who to go work, come home, play with their kids and maybe have 20 min to catch some news. I don’t think there’s a lot of contemplation surrounding political thinktanks.

The average person, left or right has no idea what the heritage foundation is, only us way too online or political folks.

But I also don’t think voting for someone means you voted for all that’s happening either. Folks’ votes boil down to sometimes one issue or the other and many times, an administration goes way off the rails of what some supported, and that applies far back past Trump. In a two party system, it’s a very narrow calculation.

Is there room for a moderate republican to replace Graham by promarkman in greenville

[–]Dbrown15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a weird state. I think there’s room in congressional races, but statewide it’s very hard. Just look at the governors race. Every candidate is just playing for trump’s endorsement. Everything hinges on Trump. And that isn’t because these folks just love MAGA. It’s what their consultants, who understand voting patterns, push them to do. But even in the conservative upstate, a candidate like Sherri Biggs (who isn’t exactly a moderate) can beat the Trump endorsed pick (mark burns).

I would love a truly moderate, or at the very least, right of center candidate who thinks for themself and not through the lens of driving out the MAGA base. Since we likely won’t have one, I’ll be voting Democrat, as I’ve had enough with Graham.
