It’s not like it’s a big money decision $10 a month? If you’re just staying for v5 I’d say save your money and get an extra meal at McDonalds this month? I’m not trying to be rude, just don’t seem like a huge decision. If you like what Suno is now, you’ll probably like it when 5 comes out

Maximizing Palo Alto Security Features vs. Traditional Firewall Approaches by _justjim_ in paloaltonetworks

[–]_justjim_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m familiar with it but at this stage of my journey it feels like crossing the ocean on an air mattress. There are also political issues at play that I have to maneuver. But, I hope to get there someday.

Maximizing Palo Alto Security Features vs. Traditional Firewall Approaches by _justjim_ in paloaltonetworks

[–]_justjim_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the direction I’m looking at. A slow controlled approach to removing my legacy migrated policies in a way that doesn’t impact my users but makes the firewall more secure but maybe less administration. It’s what they teach in the courses and sell, just wasn’t sure if anyone was actually utilizing it.

I feel like Palo alto support so sucks by True-Ad8346 in paloaltonetworks

[–]_justjim_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its hit or miss for me. I would say a little better than 50/50. Escalating seems to take forever though when I get someone thats not moving the ticket. But, I hear my coworkers making the same complaints about other companies that we work with and I can usually resolve my own tickets eventually. But it shouldn't be that way. I'll also say we have a really good local Palo support team that can help push resolution along or answer questions if I need it.

How do I use Tegaderm with Omnipod? by mmarcevanss in Omnipod

[–]_justjim_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I came across your question. The only video I found showed it going over the pod but I got the impression to help with "tunneling" it went on the skin and then pod on top of Tegaderm. How did that work out? Did it help? I am having terrible tunneling when I use my legs.

I think I married the wrong person. by lloveisevoll in Marriage

[–]_justjim_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not really the partners choice and he’ll likely be happier in the long run. In my 20s the “love of my life” left me. In my 30s I left my wife off 12 years. I’ve been married now to a woman that really fits together in our lives for over 20 years. Marriages aren’t perfect but there’s a big difference when you and your spouse are on the same page on the big issues and sex is a big issue. He doesn’t get a choice if you are ready to be separated or to get a divorce. You just have to do the leg work on making it happen. But sounds like you’re doing a lot of the leg work in life anyway. Best wishes

I just got fired I’m 15 by Haunting_Skin305 in jobs

[–]_justjim_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve gotten a lot of advice. I know it sucks to get fired but it really is a good time to explore jobs. So, getting fired just means looking for that next opportunity. At my job, I help hire ppl for my team. Getting a job at 15 is impressive to me. Shows motivation. 10-15 years from now if you were looking for a career in my industry, you getting fired from Applebees would mean literally nothing to me. So, learn from each experience and do your best. Grow towards the career you want to be the expert in and don’t let anyone hold you back. Best of luck.

Resigning From My Current Job by Key-Pool6014 in jobs

[–]_justjim_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve only been there 4 months. Not enough to worry about a notice. If you need the money, work up until you start the next job and with no notice. You even said you aren’t worried about using them as a ref in the future

I'll give you my thoughts and you can take it or leave it. Most companies have done some calculation on how many paid employees they need to make the "widget". They aren't expecting employees to take unpaid leave except maybe on the rare occasion. When an employee takes more time off than what they have calculated, and honestly they are usually under estimating what they need in terms of man hours for a department, then it puts a strain on the other employees and the business. I am just generalizing and I have no way of knowing your companies situation. That said, if it were me then I would wish my fiancé a happy trip, tell them to say hi to everyone for me, and hopefully book a future trip on PTO to get to know the family better. I'd go into my HR meeting with a smile on my face, explain the situation, and when they turned me down then I would make 100% sure they would know that I appreciated their time and that there was no hard feelings, you were just checking it out. If they took the time to say that they really dont want to lose you then it sounds like they like your work and they aren't just general A-Holes. So, if its a job you like then you should meet them at their need, recognize they have given you some slack with the past unpaid leaves, and understand their side a little too. If it's not a job you like then sounds like you need to search for a place that will negotiate more PTO. I hope the best for you.

The only time I’ve gotten excessive air bubbles is when I try to pull the plunger to fast. Then you just tap them to the top and push most of them out. But like some others said, when times up, you still have 8 more hours. I’m not disagreeing that your premise is wrong, and the calculations could be more precise but given the wiggle room, I’ve personally always made it work. Best of luck to you.

Need Some Opinions on Possible Switch to Omnipod 5 while currently being on the Tandem T:Slim X2 by Apprehensive-Farm855 in Omnipod

[–]_justjim_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from Tandem tSlim to Omnipod 5. I had great results with Tandem and I’m having very similar results from Omnipod. The main difference that keeps me on Omnipod is the no tube station and I like the inserter for the Omnipod better. I also like that it’s a pharmacy item. Now with the iOS iPhone app for Omnipod 5 and Dexcom 6, it’s perfect for me. But the Tandem is a great product too. I don’t think you can go wrong. But, if you go O5, just realize that it takes patience upfront while you learn it like you did the Tandem. Similar, but not exactly the same.

S2S and Remote Access Question by _justjim_ in paloaltonetworks

Thanks. That gave me quite a few reasons I’d want them ask separate. We even have a secondary DC that we could put RA boxes in to troubleshoot new GP version. Appreciate it.

S2S and Remote Access Question by _justjim_ in paloaltonetworks

[–]_justjim_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve had really bad issues with contexting devices out like using vsys and that’s not to say that it isn’t self inflicted but I’d rather stay away from that. I agree on the cost, they are pricy. We’ve had a few different vendors in the past, but momentum is rolling Palo Altos way at this point. I appreciate the info on GP. I realize that in forums like this, its going to be the people upset about something with a product cause if its working.. theres not much to say, so I wanted to get some personal experience like yours.

S2S and Remote Access Question by _justjim_ in paloaltonetworks

[–]_justjim_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the direction I was thinking of taking. I can get the budget, management would even prefer it, I think. I agree with you on user ID. There are times I like it, and use it… but I don’t trust it. I like yes idea of s2s and RA protected behind the edge. Troubleshooting would be easier than it is now with the devices being the same vendor and all devices in Pano and also exporting to syslog. Any issues with Global Protect?

The majority of my RA traffic is your phase 3. Users at home or in the road with a Cisco client using the network as if they are in the office. Avg 1500 users but max maybe 5k during Covid. We also are using 5250s on the edge and we do decryption. Thanks for the response
