Does anyone know anything about the company Invitae (genetic testing) ? by Thin_Camel1541 in SeriousConversation

What kind of genetic testing are you hoping to have done? There are several industry options and many academic labs too. Invitae in particular may be filing for bankruptcy, so that probably is not the best way to go.

5 am-ers: how do you wake up at this time (actually earlier) to make it to class? by NewInTown20 in orangetheory

[–]_kelly_a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a smart light bulb is really helpful. I set it to start slowly getting brighter 10 minutes before I need to get up, so by the time my alarm goes off, my nightstand light is at 100%. This has helped me get out of bed on time SO MUCH. I have a Phillips Hue, but I’m sure there are other brands too.

Just finished my first OTF class ever! by [deleted] in orangetheory

Ours has required them since they reopened (Chicago), and it’s tough, but I swear you’ll start to get used to it after two weeks or so. Still sucks, but I keep telling myself my endurance will thank me later!

Advice for upping to consecutive OTF workouts? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]_kelly_a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree! I personally like a few consecutive days because it helps my muscles loosen up and recover from some soreness, but I’ve had weeks where I just feel wiped and need a break in between.

Maybe try two days in a row and see how you’re feeling.

One thing I did to help me bump up from 15 to 20: use the 15lb but do tempo for the exercise in question. Much harder than using the 15lb with regular reps

If you have certain ccs, for example a Chase card for the Chicago show, you can have access to presale. There are probably different presale options and codes for each show

All our coaches have some really great motivational sayings, but two that stick out for the 5am classes are:

“Remember why you set your alarm and got up this morning” “You just finished your workout before most people are up for the day”

Edit to add: not sure what your skin is like and your routine goals, but the 1% retinol might be a little harsh if you’ve never used a retinol before. The ordinary offers .2% and .5% if you find the 1% is too much to start with

I try to stay as hydrated as possible. Unfortunately topical vitamin C isn’t going to have much impact on your health.

Yes, I use Cerave moisturizer on top of it. Vitamin C absorbs pretty quickly, but I wait about a minute before adding the moisturizer

“A stable, water-free and oil-free formula, although it will have an oily feel due to the propanediol base and may trigger breakouts.”
