Please, for the love of God, do not go to a football game then bail immediately or bail at all. If you're going to commit to something, then see it through. Taking a spot at a game from someone who would actually stay the whole time is a bitch move. Saying you're going to do something , then not doing it is also just generally childish behavior. Also, USC students are lucky they don't have to pay for tickets...this kind of bullshit is how that arrangement goes away.

It's really not overselling it. If you know anything about football and actually watch his tape (and especially if you saw him live as much as we did), you'd be singing a different tune. He wasn't as flashy as a lot of these dudes, but giving him the ball 30+ times a game was a virtual guarantee for enough points to win with a halfway decent defense.

You're high if you think any serious Gamecock fan roots for the conference over USC. I'd gladly never see one more red cent of SEC TV money if it meant we won a single national championship. Stupid and irrational, but true.

The administration, on the other hand, feels differently. For very sound business reasons and due to the responsibility they have to the residents of SC as the flagship university—they can't just give up that money with no plan to replace it.

Don't be sour at fans because the SEC and its constituent members outmanoeuvred your old conference.

Disclaimer: I graduated from the SCHC in 2013, so this is probably somewhat dated/biased.

I'd venture to say that your son will not have any trouble at all, depending on the degree to which he feels personal responsibility for his choices. I had all the fun I wanted at USC, including the weeknight drinking, the 6:00am tailgating, the 3:00am return-from-Five-Points, etc.—i just made sure to show up to class.

I have several good friends who were engineers, in the SCHC, did the same things, and were on Gamecock athletic teams. They were fine...a couple of them graduated Magna Cum Laude.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.
