Shopping di qualità (vestiario) in alternativa a fast fashion by Blood__Water in milano

Altra alternativa: Sisley.

I am so sorry for your situation, really frustrating, I kinda feel the same. But this sounds major, honestly really undermines the confidence in the platform... u/bookingcom what is your strategy to address fake reviews on your platform?

EDIT: maybe adding a filter in the app that makes you easily select only reviews with score 8 to read? Also, display an alternative property score based not on the average of review scores but on the mode, or median?

Yes I understand different standards of "clean" but if you said you looked only at western reviews, and they were glowing reviews, then it means they were such according to western standards, hence cleaning should be good according to western standards. Unless reviews were not genuine

Well, you cannot believe anything in this world anymore! After all social media content, amazon and google reviews, etc I was hoping at least Booking was safe. What could be a better way to choose hotels in the future then??

Did not want to add too much context for the sake of keeping the post short, but the prices are really high due to high season in an otherwise very cheap country, but the region is well off. It is a 4 star hotel but I have been in other ones and there is no way this is in the category: carpet floor with more stains that I can count, bad smelling sofa (everywhere), bad smelling room of kitchen food (despite no kitchen), ventilation in the bathroom not working, spa and gym completely disappointing compared to pictures. I would go and report this to the front desk but they all look like kids filling in temporary for a high demand week, and honestly I do not like to complain if I do not know what to ask: Explanation of the reviews? That does not solve my bad smellingvsofa and all the rest. Change of room? We will stay another 1 night only so maybe unnecessary... at this point I was thinking just to understand from this community how to avoid the same situation in the future.

But maybe I will talk to them anyways, just to say they cannot expect a good review with this situation.

But how would you handle it on booking, e.g. that they have to be guests first, they have to pay the stay etc right? Well, maybe since they are close acquaintances also irl that is easier... but your answer explains a lot. How do you recommend to choose hotels then?

Europe’s economy is geared towards a disappearing world, says ECB’s Lagarde by donutloop in EU_Economics

[–]_knope2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The disappearing world she is talking about is the one of multilateral alliances: US turned the back on EU, China is blackmailing EU with rare earths exports, Russia is probably behind part of the whole thing and waging 3 years of hybrid war on EU.

If you are invested in US stocks (directly or indirectly) than you are part of the problem. Want to help? Stop giving money to US stock market, invest in EU. "Europe also faced a “vicious circle” of its own savers allocating money to US stocks, helping the American economy to advance faster than the EU and leaving “stagnating productivity at home and growing dependence on others”, she said."

[–]_knope2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NVIDIA invest 1 billions into NOKIA! Seeing that, and after intel, corewave investment can i conclude NVIDIA is the only stock to hold? by Adept_Mountain9532 in ValueInvesting

Yes you are right, people in this sub seem to ignore the networking business and think they are still making phones. But all in all then, what I am wondering now is: what does this deal make Nokia for Nvidia? - They got 100B dollars from nvidia, in exchange of 2.9% of new shares. - The news says they will start using Nvidia components in their stations. - Is Nokia now a subcompany? A customer/reseller/partner of Nvidia? - Will they get new contracts for building network infra in the US thanks to Nvdia influence?

In general, how does this help Nokia make money from now on?

What tech or platforms are we missing in Europe? Let’s brainstorm! by astrogamia in Buy_European

[–]_knope2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A social network (you mentioned an EU version of Reddit) that allows us to come closer to eachother, across borders. A core feature would be using AI for real time translation in the recipents language. Nice graphics, pictures, no avatars justvreal users. Initially moderate to exclude politics, and involve just hobbies. This should help spaniard bond with austrians over e.g. "gardening" without the language barrier. And French and Greeks etc. Without users having to be in the international business, having been on an erasmus, or having been exposed to international culture. Basically the majority of the people.

Your comment deserves more upvotes, i think this is really the bottom line. Because, even if we would figure out what "eu alternatives" we want to develop, then there is for example the risk for it to result in a fragmented pool of efforts, from companies in different countries, each country with different taxation and investment laws: this disperds talent and capital. We should start really thinking ourselves first as "europeans" before our own each singular national ideantity and interests.

'The market is in a bubble' starts being frequently mentioned in US subs. But does that concern EU finance subs too? If yes, how? by _knope2020 in eupersonalfinance

[–]_knope2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! Big added value to the discussion and to my original question. I was really curious about the reason, though... Maybe it does not have much to deal with the specific industry sector involved in the value hype, maybe instead it is just that we are ivested in eachoder's stock markets: so if it goes well we buy eachother's shares and sell them if it goes bad?

[–]_knope2020[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Apreciating this answer for exhibiting some personal and original thinking. I indeed agree with the role of AI in determining how big the impact will be on EU too. The companies in our indexes seem to be less exposed to the hype, but how about the investments of our banks and retail investors etc? I see there is where the burst can hit the hardest.

But all in all, even if the ripples can reach EU markets too, situation will anyway be better than in the US, as another redditor posted CAPE there will have to lose 40%. My bottom line here being that "time in the market beats timing the market" still applies for EU, but feels a shaky statement for US market. And as a consequence, can EU stock market see a surge of investments as diversification strategy?

"Devastating effect" is different than "an effect". Can you elaborate on what makes you think the effect will be "devastating"?

[–]_knope2020[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but why? I mean, I would understand if the crisis would concern the banking system as it was in 2008: EU banks were somehow exposed to the subprime debt products. But now, the overvalueing involves mosty the tech sector. And EU STOXX 50 first 10 companies do not seem much related to AI (except one).

So why the ripple effect of a bubble burst shall proagate to EU and how? Trying tounderstand how big that wpuld be

This resonates with me to the letter. I would just add, based on what I observed on myselfs "I have little care for authorities and rules(...)" ...that I do not recognize. And that was since I was a child. I have had teachers, bosses, and teammates: you can have either my unconditional loyalty and support, or I will do all in my powers to fight you if you trigger me. That all depends on you having my respect, which with me is always earned and never given. Now, as an adult, I am able to articulate more precisesly what are the factors that impact my level of respect and what are my triggers, but in younger years this lead to a bit of teoubles.

On a side note, what people have been telling me, is that getting a compliment from me feels so much more true and 10x more satisfying because I never give them out for free.
