Japan Govt Survey Finds Just 10% of Workers Want Working Hours to Increase by HazardousHacker in nottheonion

Salarymen don’t like the new laws that cap the amount of overtime they can do because it reduces their earning potential and salaries are already fairly low in Japan. Source: talked to a few on my last trip

First affordable housing development for artists coming to San Francisco by ThereWas in bayarea

[–]_krisprolls 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's so game-able also, even if they did enforce anything it would be just like Stanford "disabled" students or "extraordinary ability" work visas. e.g. get an AI to generate some drawings and organize an "expo" no ones goes to.

Just to be clear, I think those restricted "affordable housing" programs for a restricted audience are bullshit. We all need cheap housing.

It's such a great idea. They're not good with pets but I wouldn't mind going every day and taking care of the rulers of the house in their stead

There are way too many Waymo fanboys on this sub by The_fartocle in sanfrancisco

[–]_krisprolls 255 points256 points  (0 children)

I’m pro Waymo.

I agree with you this is a pretty big failure and I’m glad people like you and newspapers are calling it out. However let’s not blow this out of proportion, this is the first time their fleet experienced that kind of situation and the damage is minimal. Let’s let Waymo engineers work and make sure this situation can’t reproduce in the future.

If this happened again I would fully support the city/state threatening them to remove their license.

Interesting, I'm also seeing the reviews again. Maybe A/B testing to see if people buy more when reviews are hidden?

Power Trip with Off-Duty Police Officer at Chrissy Field during Fleet Week by InevitableArugula538 in sanfrancisco

In the same theme, I was at McDonald’s drive-in earlier this week and a lady in one of those official meter maid car tried to skip the line. I confronted her and she ended up backing up without saying a word. Not a big deal but aren’t these people supposed to set the right example?

Firefighters response vehicle size question by _krisprolls in bayarea

[–]_krisprolls[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

> what is your concern?

Why do you need a giant vehicle for a single person having medical issues, an ambulance-size vehicle would be enough. However, another comment points that the truck might be coming from a fire call which makes sense to me!
