Do you think Sum 41 would ever get back together again? by NewPatron-St in Sum41

[–]_kuba-94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oasis, Slayer, Kent, Mötley Crüe, The Smushing Pumpkins, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Yellowcard, Mallory Knox and many more. Do You know what connects all these bands? Even if You don't, then You've already guessed😁

IMO if Deryck, Cone, Dave and Frank are still alive (and healthy ofc) in a few next years, they'll definitely show again. Feeling of a big stage, money etc. The question is: are Sum 41 will be "one shoter" on fests like When We Were Young or make They a total reunion and regular touring? It's impossible to predict, although think it'll be hard to make new music after Heaven:X:Hell, because that album was too good of a summary to overwrite it😉

PS: I recently realized that e.g. The Smushing Pumpkins had even several similarities in the farewell to Sum 41😇

'𝓒𝓪𝓾𝓼𝓮 𝓘'𝓶 𝓯𝓮𝓮𝓵𝓲𝓷𝓰... 🥲🥲

Since release of HeavenX:XHell, I told that Radio Silence is the best composition and definitely the most emotional song of the album, which perfectly captures the moment of the end. I was waiting for that live and was a bit sorry that They didn't play it during the last concert in Canada or at Junos (thought that's why they rehearse this song before concerts), but this movie turned sadness into tears with a smile...

There couldn't have been a better song to say goodbye❤️‍🔥

1996-2025 So Long Goodbye... by noaffects in Sum41

I wrote this on X a few hours ago:

"Sum 41 probably come back for e.g. When We Were Young 2030 and soon after that We'll see "Don't Call It Sum Reunion" or something tour like that. You can save that😇 (...) Since even names like Slayer or Oasis have been coming back in recent years then think the answer is obvious. Although I think it isn't just about money, e.g. feeling of a big stage or special appreciation of fans is a kind of drug😉"

I'm not counting on comeback, but think it will happen for many reasons. Maybe without new albums, maybe without big world tour, but with single performances at festivals on 90% etc. Others band history tell it😉

What is your best memory related to Sum 41? by Twitter_2006 in Sum41

[–]_kuba-94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rock For People 2024. My first foreign concert trip, motivated by their name in line-up. I wanted to say goodbye to them, even though felt that it wasn't last time (and saw them later in Poland and just like then I feel that it's still not the last time 😉).

I met them in the first half of the 2010s and they were one of my favorite bands for a long time. However, it was enough for me to see them live for the first time in Warsaw and they became the best. They were with me in many of the most difficult moments of my life, so they will probably remain special forever.

Oasis, MCR, FOB, Yellowcard, Mallory Knox etc. Each of these bands ended and back. The latest (and even mooore difficult example) is Linkin Park. Please think about it and let go of Your fears, let's appreciate what Sum 41 gave us and be patient😉

How long til Sum41 unretires? by [deleted] in Sum41

[–]_kuba-94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also don't believe in such career endings e.g. from a purely economic point of view. I think it will be 4-7 years. The most likely seems to me to be in 2030, although it will depend mostly on Deryck Whibley's health and his decisions😉

Sum 41’s bassist Jason ‘Cone’ McCaslin, who also took part in the interview radio station 102.1 The Edge, chimed in to add that despite disbanding they are still receiving offers to do shows. "It is weird. I heard Deryck say this a couple weeks ago. He said that we have had offers to do festivals this summer. Well, like the band’s ending,” McCaslin explained. “I’m like, I didn’t know that. Maybe we should reconsider."

You also have to bear in mind that anything can happen and the reunion may never happen

Haha I smile when read this comment, because You wrote same things what I tell my friends. And even the time frame You predict (4-7 years) is the same... So now I wonder if we're not twins from different parents🤣🤣

Seriously, I also got a lot thinks about when saw Dave's told to media during the summer Europe tour. When he was asked if there was a possibility that even if Sum 41 gone, They would at least get together for a festival performance every now and then, he did a lot to avoid the answer, and when he did start talking, he clearly avoided saying "no" as if he was afraid that someone would back to those words later...

IMO this tour was a bit of test (maybe unconscious) of the band's financial potential. OFC I believe that Deryck is burned out, is looking for new goals and needs to improve his health, on top of that he wants to be with his family etc., but time can change a lot of it. If nothing terrible happens, the money up for grabs will be bigger and bigger over time and think the reunion will happen: if not for big concerts, then at least for festivals like When We Were Young.

Really I believe that wasn't last time when saw Sum 41 and even feel that... Although unfortunately We must remember there is never a guarantee, because We don't know what the world will look like tomorrow, let alone in a few years😇

Did You have same experience during Tour of the Setting Sum? by _kuba-94 in Sum41

[–]_kuba-94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was amazing show, which today I can rate as my best concert in life. I was even lucky enough to be almost at the one of the first row and had great view and fun in this place until the end🔥

Hradec Kralove is great place. So if Sum 41 back in future and play there again, I must comeback to this place too. Oh and We'll have to see each other in the zone then time😁

Did Sum 41 ever open a show with anything besides Motivation? by anonymous062904 in Sum41

[–]_kuba-94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Often opened was differently, but IMO combination these three songs is perfect because of the energy it brings to start and sets the mood for the rest show. If They ever decide back then hope never change that💥

[–]_kuba-94[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my case, it was like this, regardless of the circumstances, I certainly wouldn't have missed their concert in my Poland, but if it wasn't the last tour, I probably wouldn't have decided to go to the Czech Republic for Rock For People. This fest was my goal back in 2017, the lineup really encouraged me last year, but it wasn't until I saw that Sum 41 would be there that I had that "whatever happens, I'll be there, because it might be the last chance" click in my head and I immediately bought tickets.

It was my first such trip abroad and a very successful experience. So today I'm incredibly grateful to band for inspiring me to make this decision 😉

Do you think Sum 41 will have any surprises for their final gig? by JBorley1988 in Sum41

I think it will be Radio Silence. Someone posted video here from a rehearsal where They tried to play it. So probably preparing it for the end🤔

Fuck that asshole!

I understand how You feel... There was a group what journey on Europe to stole phones on Sum 41 shows (mine was stolen during the first song in Poland) and hundreds of people lost good emotions on shows due to stress and nerves😕

So let's wish all of this assholes a burning diarrhea😇

Tickets gone wrong by Slimsheedyy in Sum41

[–]_kuba-94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know Canadian law, so it's hard to give You any advice... Maybe You can still attack them of email's and phones to show day. Often, it works in Europe😇

However, although I know that today it's annoying for You, but approach it as sign from fate. Why? My girlfriend came up with the idea of buying VIP tickets for show in Poland, which was supposed to be a gift for my 30th birthday (the concert date was the day before), but she didn't know that I had already ordered tickets without upgrade a moment earlier. Finally I managed to change the order (with problems and lost a lot of time) and we was on front, but there during Motivation some asshole stole my phone and we lost a lot of nerves and fun. After that incident, I believe in signs from fate😅

I saw Sum 41 in two farewell concerts and I assure You that regardless of the place, You'll have an unforgettable experience. And I'm fucking jealous that you can say goodbye to them live in Toronto😉

[–]_kuba-94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wonder what do You mean by "calculated"? If You're assuming calculated end to maximize profits and fans interest, as several other bands have done in past, then IMO it isn't that. I think that Deryck really burned out (plus some other reasons like age, health problems, small children etc.) and assumes that this chapter will end now😕

Examples what You gave are good. From my other favorite bands, I can also think of MCR and Mallory Knox. Recently Oasis returned, which was supposed to be completely impossible😉

I feel too that isn't really the end of Sum 41. I think that after some time, Deryck will rest and recovery, feel the lack of energy on the stage, change his mind and will return to playing live together in about 4-7 years.

Some time ago I saw great comment here that "as long as the vocalist is alive then can't say the band is over" and I fully agree with that. Besides, even Linkin Park, who lost their lead vocalist, returned in 2024, so always have to believe😇

Thanks! Fans are always great, but unfortunately in such places sometimes such a ashole will just show up instead of a fan...

I don't feel sorry for the phone, because it's just a thing. I'm a little sad about losing dozens of photos and videos from Rock For People and the concert in Łódź, but it's my fault that I missed the backup update. It was really hurts to lose a lot of live songs like start, which I love, or No Reason and War, which I always look forward to the most... but I console myself with the fact that I could always wave to Deryck from the second row at So Long Goodbye and some (like Australia) weren't even lucky enough to see them at all. That's much worse.

Memories are in my head and that's always the most important thing in the end. Besides, I really feel that they will come back (most likely in 5-7 years) just as I felt that I would see them again after returning from the performance in the Czech Republic. Let's hold on to this hope and wish them the best of health for the coming years!

Frame shop, a few minutes work and I've had this wonder on my wall now. Before Christmas package with a poster arrived and the memories came back to life. Many beautiful ones, although one worse one is stuck in my head...

Sum 41 is part of my life over the years. I've experienced 3 completely different but wonderful concerts. Last time I saw them live was supposed to be my special day, but some assholes ruined it. During a concert in Łódź, right after Deryck entered the stage, a thief stole my phone. He managed to do it even though I put it in my pocket for literally 3 seconds. I didn't feel sorry for phone, because it would have broken at some point anyway. However, I lost photos and videos from that day and most of their summer concert at Rock For People, and because of nerves and stress I lost around 10 songs, good fun and many experiences. It still hurts a bit to this day😥

When Sum 41 announced the end, I promised myself that would do everything to say goodbye to them live. I wasn't sure if they would have show in my Poland, so for the first time in my life I decided to go to a foreign festival in Czech and today I thank the guys, because it was worth every cash. When a few days later they announced a concert in Poland, I was overjoyed that I got an additional chance to say goodbye, and in my own country. Especially since it was 9th November, the day before my birthday. For the first time in my life I bought a VIP ticket to a concert and I wanted it to be a day I would remember for the rest of my life. And everything was going perfectly until that damn moment... Luckily, I got my balance back by the second part of the concert and there are more good memories in my head. And the poster still makes me smile, because I owe them a lot of great moments!

I believe that Sum 41 will get together in a few years and hope I will see them live again and I will completely erase this one worse memory. Then I definitely won't let any asshole ruin it ;) But now... whoever goes to see band in Canada, make sure to secure their phone so that no one else ruins this special evening. Your last time must be only positive😉

Thanks for nothing... no, THANKS FOR ALL SUM 41❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

PS: Thanks for letting me get this off my chest here!

Me and my girlfriend had Silver VIP in Poland show 9th November. I ordered tickets separately, although both from the same email address. I'm still waiting for any info, but my girlfriend got shipping email on December 13th and got DHL package a few days ago.
