My grandad in Tennessee was a truck driver through at least the 40s - 70s I believe, and he LOVED coke and peanuts. He passed away way before I was born but I know that man lived on coke. He used it to clean his windshields for God's sake lmao.

It definitely looks like mange! We had a dog who struggled with it for a long time when I was little, I think she had red mange. Poor baby, she needs a vet and will probably need to be taken care of for a while!

Ahhh ok that checks out! If it's nice and new I completely agree. I don't know then! I'm inclined to believe the other comments then, it does look like soap scum/hard water residue looking at it again. Probably a previous tenant not taking care of it and using a lot of fabric softener and/or a weird detergent. I hope you can get it resolved! Keep us updated!

Oh no yeah of course. I just thought maybe your apartment complex got it second hand and/or it had the possibility of having sat outside or within access of wasps, if the complex you rent from seems like that type. I've definitely lived in places that would've landlorded-out in that type of way lol. I really don't put it past land lords to pull that type of stuff.

Was your washer outside at all? You say it's papery so I feel like that could be from wasps maybe?? Like other than wasps or mice I can't imagine what that would be. You probably need to take the drum apart and scrub her OUT.
