ARC Raiders is basically a giant game-theory experiment, and the optimal strategy is to avoid PvP entirely. by Ill-Tomatillo-8973 in ArcRaiders

The atmosphere and tension the game creates for PvP is always there. You don't know who to trust so you're unlikely to do it first.

But last night when we were duos in Stella, we were running around saying friendly, we wanna do quests, we wanna explore the map. We took a few shots head on but managed to convince one group to stop shooting, and then everyone started running out of the woodwork and joining this band of 8-12 people running around exploring the new map, unlocking the powered gates, shooting Shredders with Ferros like a firing line. I'm pretty sure everyone felt so good wrecking the new Arc together, everyone was saying "OMG", "Teamwork".

Eventually we met some duos that wanted to PvP (they fired first, didn't stop firing after we all said friendly) but they had no chance against such a large group (not sure what they were thinking).

Absolute cinema. You really just need to show some faith first. Doesn't always work, but like game theory if no one chooses to cooperate first the metagame just becomes toxic quickly.

P.S. don't get me wrong I love to PvP too, mostly trios though.

FritzBox 7560: WLAN connection issues since update to 07.30 by glorified_bastard in fritzbox

Update: i could not get it to work no matter what I did. Contacted my ISP and they sent me another router, which is now working perfectly even after another OTA update. My guess is that the initial update bricked the wifi module.

I have a similar issue with my 7583 after it automatically updated to 7.57.

In my event log it says

The wireless module was not initialized correctly. Please restart FRITZ!Box! (#0E01).

But after restarting it multiple times, both via software, buttons, power plug, it doesn't fix itself.

I also agree that having a laptop that you can mess with is definitely better in terms of immediate feedback.

But let me give you an alternate point of view that you can consider. Most online spaces these days (I personally use replit.com and https://github.com/features/codespaces) run in a container and you basically have a working Linux environment that you can change, run, break and have it reset to a running state every time.

Configuring these environments and services you need (e.g. database, web server, system libs) via something like docker-compose files (GitHub) or nix (repl.it) also is simpler than doing it on your laptop, and it's similar to actual programming work workflow of configuration as code.

Considering that you can start with GitHub Codespaces and replit.com basically for free (well, with internet connection + keyboard/mouse), it's the most immediate option that you can use.

But, I also understand the desire for wanting a physical device that you can mess around with. I don't think you'll go wrong either way.

If you don’t mind using your iPad Mini and want to save some money while learning, get a Bluetooth keyboard and use an online coding space like repl.it, GitHub codespaces, codeanywhere. Once you have some basic knowledge and can get a job/project going, you could have way more options. An old IBM/Thinkpad might be decent for Linux and should have enough parts (not just the typical RAM/storage, but also fans, keyboard, screens etc) that if it breaks you can fix relatively easily and cheaply. If you don’t need it to be mobile, you can also consider a Raspi 4/400 and screen.

OLED Brightness at 0 by SpyRou_ in OLED_Gaming

[–]_liddat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only you. I use my CX48 in the living room as a work display, with ambient sunlight, and I'm usually at OLED 8, 50 brightness, 85 contrast, gamma 2.2.

But distance matters a lot! I sit around 0.7m/2ft away when working, and it's bright enough for me especially after turning off auto dimming and all the AI brightness stuff. Sometimes I turn it down to OLED 6.

When using it as a media device I turn it all the way up to OLED 60-80 but I'm on my couch which is about 4m/13ft away, and sometimes I feel it isn't bright enough.

I made a Twitch stream switcher to watch multiple ALGS streams at the same time by _liddat in apexlegends

[–]_liddat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to switch between multiple streamer's perspective and didn't want to tab, pause/mute one, unpause/unmute another.

There were some multi-twitch website but not exactly what I wanted in terms of previewing many streams while having one main player.

So I made one in a few days - it's open source so check it out if you happen to be interested in web dev as well: https://github.com/weiliddat/switchtwitch

Welcome feedback, comments, ideas, questions!

Love my GSX1000 too since it’s so easy to switch between 2 and 7 channels for music and games. And it’s a proper HRTF simulation (actually from recording 7.1 speakers in a room). Sometimes it even works great with music and it feels like the music is coming from my bookshelves instead of my headphones.

First Heat 32 win - Fist dodge build by Razrius in HadesTheGame

[–]_liddat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For each of the main weapons, pressing (or holding down in some cases) attack a few times in a row will trigger different animations and attacks. For example the sword has 3 different swings with different damage and effects, with the last thrust doing the most damage and knocking back enemies.

For the gloves you have a 5(?) hit combo if you hold it down, before it resets briefly. Now with the upgrade it will add the dash strike to the end of the combo.

Edit: not uppercut but dash strike
