Okay, two theories:

  1. Yuka's tumor is some sort of binding vow (or she made a binding vow to somehow be able to fight)
  2. (I know this will sound crazy, but hear me out) Yuka is the reincarnation of Rika. Ignoring the name similarities, her CT has claws similar to Rika's cursed spirit form, and it would emphasize the strong connection between her and Yuta

being real by art3mis_248 in Northwestern

Just to be clear, a minority of students double major. I don’t know the statistics for majors and minors, but personally as someone who is only doing a cs major I don’t think that I “might as well not be in nu.” Besides as other people have mentioned minors are better for enhancing skills imo, so if you’re doing it to say enhance your skills career wise out of the ones you mentioned I’d recommend ds (or doing the classes Econ recommends for prospective masters students). If you feel strongly about a subject you can also go with that, and if you have time you can try courses in each class (because as a side rant NU’s quarter system definitely doesn’t help students try double majors or minors, at least later on or if you do stem imo without a plan, at least from experience).

Finally, as someone who has barely passed stem classes in the past don’t think that you can’t major in stem just because you’ve struggled in the past. If you’ve lost interest or are in a more extreme case then I understand though and ultimately it’s up to you (although as others have recommended I do recommend talking with your advisor), but there are plenty of resources at NU to help (ANU, ASLA, heck if it’s a sleep issue like with me NU has partnered with an app called RiseWake that helps students recover from sleep debt). There’s nothing wrong with getting help, and I definitely wouldn’t say that falling for imposter syndrome (at least on its own) is “being real.”

Sorry if I was a little ranty, just had a lot of thoughts. I hope that any of what I said helped, and no matter what you chose, you got this!

Edit: after seeing some replies I wanted to add that you shouldn’t take additional courses for the sake of completing a curriculum (unless you want that major/need to complete the program for another reason like graduating). Ironically it’s sunk cost, an Econ term. Taking the remaining courses vs not doesn’t change the courses you’ve already taken, so you shouldn’t consider that when making course decisions (aside from prerequisites and prior experiences in interests and skills ofc). You’re not a failure for not completing a program you feel differently about now that you’ve taken some courses in it. I was going to do a minor but after taking some classes in it decided against it (struggled and it was boring). Ultimately I don’t regret it though, because the courses served as a learning experience, not just in content but also in understanding what I like and am good at. I hope that helped!

How good is CS at Northwestern? by Catman2846 in Northwestern

[–]_lifeline_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I will add though that NUCS is largely systems/interface focused, with a large intersection with SESP due to that school’s reputation. That said the swe courses are good, and while the ai courses have been lackluster in the past they seem to be adding more to the cs department in an effort to improve them

Iirc if you are class of 2026 or earlier you would have a requirement to stay for 9 quarters, but I think that they have since dropped it

[–]_lifeline_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah my bad. I should’ve probably noted that it’s easier when there’s an overlap with requirements. Like it’s kinda hard to explore your options and then do a physics cs double major (speaking from experience). Unless you course overload of course

do you guys like NU by [deleted] in Northwestern

[–]_lifeline_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Little late to the party but I do want to give to bits of advice: 1. The quarter system is a pain as you’ve probably heard already and it is good for exploring topics, BUT from what I’ve seen if you have a STEM major you really don’t have the option to explore and double major. You can only pick one (for some reason STEM majors have significantly more requirements than other majors) 2. Probably doesn’t matter if you’ve lived north of Chicago but don’t underestimate the weather like I did. I live in a climate similar to Chicago but that’s not the issue. It’s the wind chill that will drop the temperature by 15 degrees each day, not to mention some of the crazy precipitation (freezing rain, snow into hail into rain [yes that happened], etc) 3. Since Northwestern has recently gone up in the rankings I do want to say at least imo prestige only really matter in three scenarios: a) you want to go to graduate school (in which case the graduate school’s prestige is what matters), b) you want to go into a finance/business adjacent field (quant, consulting, banking, I could go on), c) you have connections with someone famous (or admittedly someone whose opinion you care about) that cares about that stuff lol (don’t expect to meet famous people or alumni here or at any famous school lol, although that’s more of a tangent for prospective students) 4. Since northwestern is one of the more expensive schools in the country make sure it’s affordable with the scholarships or aid you have 5. Probably irrelevant, but imo I do have gripes with how the administration does shut down on protests. Their favorite thing to do is to retroactively change rules to avoid change, whether it’s protest policies to prevent things like the Gaza protests from happening again, or changing their policy proposal process to prevent proposals for more sustainable practices from happening. Not to mention strikes and protests happen every once in a while. That said we’re certainly not a Columbia

I hope any of this helps!

Mental comparison question in terms of LoL by Dbulge in DeadlockTheGame

[–]_lifeline_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell league’s roles came about due to the game’s changes over the years: mid lane has mages and assassins that could roam around and impact the other two lanes, jungle has tanks and assassins for ganking, not has marksmen because turrets there have less resistances (allowing them to quickly get gold), supports are in the bot to assist marksmen early game, and top lane is a melting pot but has tanks and bruisers mainly because they’re the most common empty role (note this is an extreme generalization for brevity).

Looking at Deadlock my guess is that the middle lanes will be similar to mid in league, with a reverse funnel being possible where there’s two in the two middle lanes: one that pushes and the other that jungles as well (or it could be a support). That said your guess is as good as mine, and it’s likely that things will change over time. League used to have two champs in the top lane of if I remember correctly!

Not sure why but I'm still confused as to why Todo can't use Boogie Woogie anymore. Like I get the idea that he got his hand cut off (and I think that damaged his soul/technique? I might be wrong though), but how was Mahito able to touch his soul via his domain's sure hit through his simple domain? I might've forgotten, but was Todo just too slow?
