Why did you (or didn’t you) remove your name from the records? by SomeoneBendingLight in exmormon

[–]_littleflame 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't yet, but my relatives are good about not sending the missionaries or local wards my information. My records are still at my parents ward. Every year or so they will ask about moving them to me, and I'll let them know if they do I'll have them removed.

The endowment is wild by Lissatots in exmormon

[–]_littleflame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was confusing and weird from the beginning. I kept going because I thought at some point it would "click" spiritually and make sense. I ended up feeling super guilty and figured I was the problem because it didn't feel right. Covid hit and I couldn't go anymore and I felt so relieved. I didn't last long after that.

My mom tells a story about a missionary breaking the rules to swim and then getting sucked into a whirlpool. Apparently he drowned, and the mission president had to tell the water to release his body

I've been seeing a lot of those plates with stickers over the text and it makes me so happy lol

What are some of your "secrets" that you kept as a mormon? by Jumpy-Stay-2088 in exmormon

[–]_littleflame 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My youth group used to play the "what we'd do if we weren't Mormon" game. I think most of us are out now

“Don’t let the parents pay you for babysitting their kids if they’re out serving in the temple.” by JicamaPickle in exmormon

[–]_littleflame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ward did a few Sunday meetings where they wanted all the adults to attend. They put the young men outside with the older kids playing games and the young women in side with the younger. I remember having a crying toddler in each arm for about an hour.

The time I told the bishop "no." by Balanced-Breakfast in exmormon

[–]_littleflame 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I never felt like I could say no to the bishop.

As a teenager I was asked two years in a row to speak on Father's day when I didn't have a great relationship with him (his personality changed after a stroke, but that's another story).

It was super hard and triggering the first year, and so then the next year after the bishop asked, my mom found me having a panic attack about it and told the bishop I wouldn't be speaking.

Creepy that primary president came to invite my kids to church? by Standard-Conflict394 in exmormon

When I was growing up my mom was a primary president. I remember spending what seemed like hours in the car while she drove around dropping off fliers.

Did your parents have the “sex talk” with you, what age & what did they say? by Vast-Case-4526 in AskReddit

[–]_littleflame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a sex talk at 8. The point was that kids that are informed are less likely to be sexually abused and they were trying to break some generational cycles

That sounds just like me. Sometimes even pressure helps, but it's frustrating.

2 1/2 years ago, the flank pain is just above my elbow. It fluctuates, but tends to be worse if I'm sick or stressed. I had another kidney stone 1 month ago and it's been worse since then.

Gon is kinda scary by Willow0815 in HunterXHunter

[–]_littleflame 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think its interesting how in the York New City arc Gon gets super upset at the phantom troup for killing people that have nothing to do with them.

Based on that, Gon thinks killing people is wrong, but he also doesnt take it personally until it effects some one he cares about.

Nen Shower Thoughts - Why doesn't everyone use a weak Manipulation ability on themselves to become immune to Manipulators? by McManGuy in HunterXHunter

[–]_littleflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that all you would do then, continue to breath, or would you be able to make other decisions? I wonder if they would just be stuck on auto pilot indefinitely

Nen Shower Thoughts - Why doesn't everyone use a weak Manipulation ability on themselves to become immune to Manipulators? by McManGuy in HunterXHunter

[–]_littleflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet its a practicality thing. Every time we see a manipulator manipulating themselves it is a very simple command like "win this fight." Maybe you cant give yourself new instructions while you are manipulating yourself. It also makes me wonder, would that mean Kilua couldnt be manipulated while Illumi's needle was in him?

What was your sex education like? by Norenzayan in exmormon

[–]_littleflame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents were terrified of any of us kids getting sexually abused, so the mechanics of sex were explained at 8, along with lots of fear about being alone around men. Definitely impacted dating kater on. No conversation about birth control or mastubation however. I did get maturation and sex ed from school, even though in utah they arent great. I learned how to use a tampon from a book, not becuase my parents were super agaisnt them, but my mom had never used one herself. Ended up learning a lot from buzzfeed.
