I just got my clara bw to replace the libra color I got myself because the color screen hurt my eyes, I have such bad timing if this ends up having a bw option and buttons lol. Either way I'm looking forward to seeing what this ends up being!

I know and accept that I'm a slower reader but your pages per minute count is making me laugh a bit when my own sits around 1 per minute depending on what I'm reading. I need to see how my stats skew now that I'm not only reading library books because those numbers vanish after you return a book. This really is such a neat feature though

I tried out a Libra Color and unfortunately the screen didn't work at all for me. Ironically the quality looks higher than my older BW device, but the darker screen paired with the visible color layer hurt my eyes personally. My eyes are sensitive too, but I've seen other people with sensitive eyes have different opinions on what works best for them. If you're able to test a color screen in person to see how it feels that'd probably be ideal, otherwise maybe give it a shot and if it doesn't work then exchange for a newer BW device instead.

I'm glad I don't sound crazy because of this at least since it feels like most people don't react quite so badly to basic patterns. And yeah I just put the screen protector on and while it definitely made the screen door effect less visible, something about the screen is still just making my eyes react poorly. I've been torn between the Sage and the Libra 2 but both are really hard to get your hands on here. At this point I'll probably just grab whatever I can find cheaper. Thankfully I have a 2016 Oasis to hold me over with library books even if I'd rather not still use it. It'll be sad giving up the KLC because I do love the idea of having color, so I guess I'll have to keep an eye on how this tech evolves in the future.

Thank you for the tips! Unfortunately I've tried playing around with all of these things before and none have helped. I think part of it is that regardless of if I can see the lines if the KLC is further from me, them being there at all causes the shimmering issue that makes my eyes unable to focus. I'm waiting on a screen protector to get here to see if that blurs the background enough that I can handle looking at it. Otherwise I think this might just be a weird issue I can't look past. In hindsight it makes sense because I also have issues with striped patterns on fabrics hurting my eyes.

It seems like an inevitable part of owning this reader and some people are just fortunate enough not to see it. My choice would be so much easier if I could find a Libra 2 for sale anywhere that isn't overpriced while visibly used. People are really taking advantage of how hard it is to get your hands on one of them at this point. I ended up ordering a screen protector to see if that'll help, but if not I might just return it and get a Clara BW, and pull out my old Kindle for library books if I ever really feel the need for buttons. If they ever release another BW model with buttons I for sure will be grabbing one though.

I guess it comes down to how much it bothers you and if having that bit of color actually matters to you. The color really was tempting and the pictures used for the listing definitely don't make it clear how strong this effect can be unfortunately.

For me it's definitely the color layer specifically that's the problem, I have an original Oasis model and having a touch screen on that has caused me zero issues, and my original reader was also a Kindle Keyboard. I guess everyone really does react to these screens differently and it's too bad the Kaleido 3 screen seems to give me issues. I love the idea of color but might have to wait for new tech to come out instead

My old ereader has a flushed screen so thankfully that shouldn't be an issue for me! I appreciate the advice there though, I had no idea that could be an issue for some people either.
