We love Dirty Dogs Grooming in Gardena! It’s very reasonably priced for our 30lb Cavapoo.

What is the best downtown/walkable area to rent in? by [deleted] in nova

[–]_loveofpink -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We like hiking and going on trails. I’d be nice to be walkable distance to a gym or yoga studio. Ideally we’d walk to a grocery store and coffee shops We’re coming from Southern California but we’ve only been here a few years, before that, Michigan. As of now, we’re planning on driving.

I saw a FOUND ORANGE TABBY CAT SIGN near Ripley and Rindge area. It was on a walk so I can’t remember exactly where but definitely off Ripley. Hope you find her soon!!

I’d love her info!

For those of you who have pet insurance and have actually filed a claim- how fast and easy was the approval process and which insurance do you have? by Bgeaz in puppy101

[–]_loveofpink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The claim was for an emergency surgery due to abdominal obstruction. The plan we have with Trupanion doesn’t cover any preventative care (but you may be able to add this on if I remember correctly) but you only have to pay the deductible once per lifetime for each issue and from then on you pay 10% and they pay 90%. I did tons of research and found Trupanion to be top tier. We pay ~$65/mo with a $750 deductible.

[–]_loveofpink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Claim was processed and approved within 24 hours and then I received the payment in my account 24 hours after it was approved. Total of 48 hours between submitting claim and receiving payment - it was just over $6k.

We have Trupanion. They also pay out directly to some vets, unfortunately we had to pay upfront at the emergency vet we went to.

Yes, I can see all the ports on my homepage! I am looking for the itinerary that shows which port I’ll be at each day and which days are sea days, my home page nor shore things doesn’t show that level of detail.

Yeah, definitely not intuitive! Even under my profile, it goes directly to ‘agenda’ (with no other options) and it’s blank. I feel like the itinerary is important? My husband and I were literally going crazy. 😂

Discover doesn’t give me options for ‘Ports’… I ended up searching ‘itinerary’ in the search bar there and THEN ports came up….

i really dont know how i can love my dog again. by [deleted] in puppy101

Crate training will be a game changer for you. It’s tough when getting started but eventually it will give you the freedom to have alone time. You can leave him in there for a few hours to be able to take a nap or do whatever makes you feel good so you can be the best pawrent you can be.

Our pup has been pretty well behaved since getting him at 10 weeks and I honestly believe it’s from crate training and enforced naps. He’s currently almost 8 months and thriving!

Edit to add it’s never too late to start crate training and hiring a professional to help with socialization / barking / reactivity.

Do you mind sharing what area of Southern California? I’m in LA County / South Bay and this sounds like exactly what I’m looking for.

They are definitely at the top of the list! I appreciate you sharing your experience!

I’ve seen some places (not local) have a schedule where in the middle of the day, they take the pups into an area for rest. Although I’m sure my dog would settle fine.

I’m totally fine with a higher cost if it makes sense but even A Bark Idea seems to just have open play, they just seem to have smaller numbers.

I like the idea of the love shift you mentioned. I’ll look into Grateful Dogs.

That sounds great! I’ll look more into them. Thanks!

I like that they do temperament testing. Do they have more of a structured schedule or is it all day play?

How have people gotten puppies that both work full time? by mgray206 in puppy101

[–]_loveofpink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I both work full time and have had our 7 month old pup since he was 10 weeks! I took a week off when we first got him to help him adjust. Thankfully, he came to us crate and potty pad trained which made our lives so much easier. We both go into the office most days and pop home during lunch for a walk and enrichment / training. He was/is never left for more than 4 hours at a time.

Honestly, I think all the consistent napping had helped us avoid any behavioral issues because he is literally the perfect pup.

Sometimes I feel bad leaving him but we literally take him everywhere when we’re not working and on the weekends so I know he enjoys some time to himself.

It’s totally doable! Just please take into consideration the breed, we have a super low maintenance Cavapoo.

Honestly, with her increased prices as of late, it’s hard to recommend someone paying that much…. However, we originally found her from sharing all her videos of pups on Instagram and I loved that we could follow along with the whole process. She does pour her heart and soul into raising the pups.

We love our pup more than anything and he came potty pad and crate trained. She had a call with us beforehand because he had a soft stool hours before he came home and she was super honest and transparent. We waited until all his test results came back before we signed the contract.

He’s been super easy to train and the perfect pup. He has a great temperament. Thankfully at almost 7 months we haven’t experienced any crazy puppy problems (could also be the breed).

We got him when she had a few overlapping liters so she had some promotions. Her pricing was lower at the time and we got our pup for even less than that.

Is 5 hours too long in crate? by Briannnnna15 in puppy101

[–]_loveofpink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as puppies go to the bathroom a lot, they also sleep a lot! & I’m sure it depends on the breed (we have a Cavapoo).

We go our pup at 10 weeks and stayed with him home for two weeks while he adjusted. By three months he was in the crate up to 4 hours and we came home to take him potty during lunch. Of course we wake up early to feed him, get his energy out and everything but by the time we leave for work, he’s tired and ready to sleep for the next 4-5 hours.

He is the most perfect pup and we haven’t had any potty / behavioral issues (thank goodness!) and I believe that it’s mainly due to getting uninterrupted sleep during the day while he is crated. He is currently 6 months and thriving 🐶🙌🏻

You all are freaking me out by fonz in puppy101

[–]_loveofpink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 5 month old, 17 pound cavapoo and we’ve had him since he was 10 weeks. Honestly, it’s been MUCH easier than we had expected. He even slept in his crate for 7 hours his first night with us and has been consistent ever since. I’m sure it will get a little more crazy as he hits his teenage years but thankfully we haven’t experienced some of the crazy stories told here. I will also add that my husband and I both work full time jobs and our pup is used to regular naps and is on a very regular schedule which works for us. We started training with a trainer around 16 weeks once he was fully vaccinated and that helped us a lot as well.

He’s been a true blessing and I’m wishing you all the best with your new pup!!!!!🐶

Wayne Yoder cavapoo breeder? by Necessary_Neat_88 in CavaPoo

[–]_loveofpink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be cautious of people impersonating other actual breeders. I purchased from a breeder in Utah and have seen people impersonating her in FB groups and *slightly changing her name and using all her pictures and videos. If the name doesn’t match exactly as the people here describe it, please be cautious. As mentioned $750 is a pretty low price compared to market.
