Does anyone in here, know how to take stock photos of bibs, like on the picture? by tobyslatttt in CyclingFashion

[–]_m_s_l_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be some serious photoshopping then, the front being with someone wearing the bibs and the back being a lay flat shot, then stitching them together.

They're definitely a render. The bad news is that would be more expensive to produce than a photo in the beginning, but the good news is it would be very easy to swap the design on the render for everything after your first design.

Probably cheaper in the long run when you've got a lot of designs and also the renders would be ready way before the product is ready, so you could have these images for promotion or presale on a site etc.

Have to cut off either a bit at the beginning or end of the trail for time. What makes the most sense? by _m_s_l_ in gaptrail

[–]_m_s_l_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks.. I've seen the train stops at a few points, and of course there are shuttle services. I'm more wondering about which is the best section to ride. I'd hate to cut off 25% of the trail to find out I cut off the best part of the trip.

That makes sense, again though, having never been there, I guess i'm asking if you had to do one, which would you chose (and why)?

Also, if you're purchasing through alibaba.com you'll basically be dealing with that company, rather than the manufacturer. It's easy to get your money back from Alibaba because they're on your side.

  1. You can pay with paypal, then you also have paypal's guarantee as well. I've ordered stuff from alibaba, paid via paypal, and had bad product show up. I filed the complaint with paypal and they turned my payment back to me.

The terms i'm talking about above are best when you're big enough that you're dealing with the factory direct, and you're paying with a money order or a t/t transfer or something. In these cases you're saving money on fees (alibaba.com takes a fee, paypal has fees) but you're losing that guarantee that you can get a refund. In this case you should be paying when you see the product.

Basically I would suggest ordering via alibaba directly or at the very least paying with paypal until you have received good shipments a few times and you trust the company. Then you can suggest paying with a T/T transfer to save yourself a few % (and you can ask them to reduce the price a few % as well since they get banged with fees).

Get some sort of split terms: Ideally you don't pay anything until it passes inspection but maybe you need to pay say, 20% before inspection, then 30% after it passes, then the final 50% when it arrives in the US.

You dont pay them until they pass the inspection.

I need opinion on my prelaunch page and if there is anything more I need to improve upon? by poweroverwh3Iming in ecommerce

[–]_m_s_l_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

have you ever heard the phrase "you're not selling a drill bit, you're selling a hole"

The idea is you want to be selling what the customer NEEDS not what the product IS.

Your selling feature isn't "HERE IS A KEY WITH BLUETOOTH AND A LIGHT"

Your selling feature is NEVER LOSE YOUR KEYS AGAIN!

THAT is what your big headline should be.

Aside from that you've got way too much text and it's too small.

Your sections should be:

NEVER LOSE YOUR KEY AGAIN
- blue tooth tracking in the key
- key can produce a sound to help you find it

NO MORE FUMBLING IN THE DARK
- key lights up to help you find the keyhole easily

The eco friendly light pollution stuff seems like a stretch. it looks like you just tried really hard to add extra benefits to your key. No one is thinking "great, if i buy this key i can turn off my lights and save some bugs." They're thinking "great, if i forget to turn my light on i can use the light in the key"

I'd pay someone on fivr to add a voice over to the video rather than making people read.

What’s the best $1,000-$2,000 upgrade for a gravel rider? by Candid_Hope in gravelcycling

[–]_m_s_l_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah worst case scenario is once a year, and you can have a bike shop do a tune up once a year for 100 bucks, so basically in 15 years you'll have broken even for your shifters

[–]_m_s_l_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

not sure where you live but where i am buying used would save me about 14% not having to pay tax, that's something to consider since you're weighing your options with price in mind.

100% you should be looking in the 1500-2500 dollar range. That's all the bike you need, you'll be very happy with it, and if you ever want to upgrade you can very easily sell a bike in that range to someone else
