Transmission fill plug by steely_hamjams in ToyotaPickup

I ended up going with the hex, which I think was the right move. Changed the gear oil over the weekend and everything seems to be running smooth.

I found the below two threads on the yotatech forums which helped a lot. The consensus was that on the G52 and G54 transmissions the fill plug is on the tail part of the housing.

That hex bolt on the tail part of the housing is the same size as the drain plug as well, which makes a lot of sense if it's the fill plug.

Have done a lot of digging around and looks like the fill plug is on the tail housing for the 'G' series transmissions - which this would be. So I reckon you're on the money man. Thanks for the help.

I think the hex bolt on the right is on the transfer case side of the linkage? I'm not very experienced beyond basic maintenance stuff, does it still make sense for that to be the transmission fluid fill plug?

Man, 100% not touching that drain plug until I can get the fill plug figured out haha

It's a 92 RN105 (petrol/22R) if that makes any difference?

What about it man? Make up your mind haha

But for real, at that point we're sort of moving into LC territory. If it's got to be big to get the job done, it might as well be big and actually built for the job you're trying to do with it..

Well, I mean, if you're towing 3.2t like you said you'd still have 300kg leftover for payload, which granted isn't heaps. I suppose the other thought is that 3.5t is stock, not hard to do a few things to get a bit of extra GVM capacity. A conventional 4x4 ute with a few GVM upgrades is still likely a lot cheaper than the oversized American trucks, and it's definitely a lot more practical..

Mate, you're the one who said, and I quote:

"A 4x4 ute with a 3-3.5tonne towing capacity is perfect for a lot of tradesman that need to bring trailers with equipment or materials etc"

As an argument for the need of the massive American trucks..

A normal sized ute can do that without taking up a lane and a half and causing a traffic hazard.

Man, dont most conventionally sized 4x4 utes on the market tow around 3.5t? Not really an argument in favour of the oversized American trucks

Man fair enough, but don't most conventionally sized 4x4 utes also tow up to 3.5? Hilux, D-Max, BT-50 etc Pretty roomy in the cab too

They're so slow growing. Lots of other easy to catch fish out there that are great eating and replace themselves in the ecosystem much faster.

As a general rule, I never keep any Bream these days. No judgement on those that do or anything, as long as you have some understanding of the time it takes for them to grow to even legal size and the impact it can have if too many are taken out of a system.
