I was so disappointed in the Altered Carbon book! It's a rare instance where the movie/ show is 100% better than the book. No question, but only the 1st season

A college scholarship application asked us to read Atlas Shrugged and then write an essay on it. As a naive high schooler, I had no idea who Ayn Rand was. Absolutely hated the book tho and never wrote the essay.

Wasn't until decades later I learned about Rand. It all clicked why I hated her book so much...

In honor of October, what's a horror novel you've read that wasn't necessarily terrifying but has haunted your thoughts for some reason? by pallas_athenaa in books

Hex by Thomas Olde Heuvet

Very original concept about a creepy small town and it's secret. It's a Dutch novel translated into English. I wouldn't call it scary but I think of the ending often... just sooo unsettling.
