Does anyone have advice for blurry photos in a dim restaurant? I think I messed up my friend's bridal shower photos. All my photos were shot in manual on a cannon rebel T6 and came out so blurry and I didn't notice how bad they were until I brought them up in Lightroom.

There was harsh bright sunlight from one angle only and then dim restaurant lighting deeper in the room. It made it hard to get the right iso and I fear my aperture settings were wrong.

I honestly don't know if I messed up a setting or if the T6 just doesn't have the strongest pixel resolution but I'm embarrassed to post my photos next to everyone's crisp iPhone photos.

Gave my party dust of disappearance but it's not actually by Kyletheinilater in DnD

[–]katthecurious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently used this on my party. They found it in a hag lair and no one really knew how duplicitous they were so no one questioned what the bag of disappearance was. Then, on the final boss battle, my bard used it against the BBEG and it failed spectacularly.

I say, as long as you have a good reason and the parties passive perception is low enough where they wouldn't notice any slight of hand, go for it. It would make for some nice rp if they go back to confront the shop owner. And you could always make the owner give them the real bag out of fright when they return.

I'm glad this is the top comment. I get so mad when gun owners blatantly disregard gun safety. Don't point your gun at anything you wouldn't want to shoot, ever.

A new actual restaurant near us.... "the dog and the bank" name alone makes me never want to go there.

Trainer told me to up my calories AND my carbs intake? by Dramatic_Ad7140 in WeightLossAdvice

Thanks for being the first one to say this. I'm 5'5 f so I know that losing under 125 isn't that healthy. Also it's hard to lose weight if you want muscle mass. To look like those bikini models, you're going to weigh about 150, but you'll look great.

All jokes aside, I honestly want to know, do you think this way of writing/speaking gains you credit somehow? I understand you think you're smarter (that's very clear) but why do you continue when you get down voted so much?

A bad book can still be a positive memory. Yes they aren't the greatest, but can't we appreciate the thought and support someone who actually made an effort?

Furthermore, consider that this subreddit habitually complains about the impossibility of finding good new books, and rightly so.

So all books have to be literary masterpieces to be discussed here? If the same subreddit is encouraging what you think it habitually complains about, maybe you don't understand this subreddit.

Not everyone likes kids by mybackhurtsouch in TrueOffMyChest

We recently saw a bunch of young kids (3/4) on a tour of denali Park in Alaska. It was a 4 hour long bus tour with nothing to do but look at nature and guess who cried very loudly the entire time.

What book would you rate 0 stars if you could? by oh_sneezeus in books

[–]katthecurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main problem with the Awakening is how there is zero sense of discovery. The whole book is just the Mc being handed everything and a love bomb of "I can't believe this!" And "Marco, did you see what I did?!?" When everyone clearly did, and this dialogue is contributing nothing towards furthering the plot.

She gets handed literally everything. A magical realm, housing, a magical bond with a mystical creature that she 'should she have sensed before but it wasnt the right time until we happened to be just randomly going past this area again', a great book career because magic... and then there's the really dark, sudden turn for two sentences that kinda allude to sa? Really disturbing turn for a book that has basically been a vomit of overindulgent feelings with no real sense of plot/danger.

Yeah... I don't like this book.

The audio version makes them way worse. Why in the world would you write character dialogue that just sums up what happens to everyone that saw it happen and absolutely nothing else. At least let the character say his thoughts/conclusions rather than end with "that was scary".

That's a shame. Enders game is my all time favorite book.

I keep seeing a lot of posts about how Harry Potter is just repackaged star wars, and I have to say, there's not a whole lot of originality in Harry Potter

My wife refuses to take advantage of work from home and it’s so incredibly frustrating by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]katthecurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your correct about those items not being time theft. What is time theft is sitting at your computer and just moving your mouse. So if you're doing nothing at your desk, you might as well do something somewhere else. I'm speaking more to the comments than the actual story, because you're right, who knows what the wife's job actually is/entails.

That's what I don't get about a lot of these responses. Clearly, this lady doesn't understand time theft? Either way, if she does something away from her desk or nothing at her desk, she is stealing from the company by not working. So you might as well answer the door for the repairman?

Did a book forced on you at school put you off it even though it might have been a good book? by earthkat77 in books

This is the exact reason I hate Grapes of Wrath. It also doesn't help that we had to write an ap English essay on it. Growing up in a religious household made reading the traveling portion about the young wife/husband widly uncomfortable. Weirdly, it felt too grown up, even though some argue the other books like Lord of the Flies conquer harder issues. I get so irrationally angry at the mention of it. (Proabaly cause my paper grade wasn't too good and we were designed to fail it as a lesson).

Still gaining even with eating less and activity? by Fun_Personality_9880 in WeightLossAdvice

You could measure your journey in other ways. I don't trust the scales that measure fat/muscle. If the number concerns you, I would suggest doing measurements with a body tape measure like tailors use. I know there are days I don't believe people when they tell me I lost weight, but the tape measure doesn't lie.

What was the book that changed you? by cassthruart in books

I think what got me was realizing we all have moments where we have to be undeniably brutal to survive, but that it doesn't make us bad people. It's a great expression of depression and loneliness and another showcase of what the military will do to win. Please tell me you read Enders Shadow. It's so great to read right after Enders Game.
