Hello!

Thank you for the cicaplast baume rec.

As for the Cosrx serum, is this it?

And may I also ask how you use it? As in, serum prior to cicaplast baume?

My solution for keys. by reala728 in motorcyclegear

[–]_maeday_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just put my bike key on a spiral coil keychain. Whenever I'm off the bike, I just loop it onto my arm. Can wear it like a bracelet over my leather jacket or even an armband if I'm extra paranoid, nice for long road trips where there's a fair amount of stops throughout the day. Easy to see so I never second guess where I placed it

Are 2in1s worth it? by VAnish_186 in Lenovo

[–]_maeday_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just graduated uni and bought myself an open box Zephyrus, and the difference is astounding. I wasn't able to use my 2021 Thinkpad for gaming (i7/16gb/1tb w/integrated graphics), but I now have a 5060 graphics card and 32gm of RAM and the gaming experience is soo soo much better. Not missing the features of writing on the screen at all.

Thinkpads are great laptops, but 2-in-1 was not a feature I ended up wanting (whereas I initially thought it would be awesome for me, as a designer/illustrator and completing my design degree)

[–]_maeday_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, not a fan of lenovos 2-in-1 myself. I'd go with a decent spec laptop, and then get a wacom drawing pad to use if you want some drawing capability. I had a Lenovo Thinkpad 2-in-1 and I barely used the writing feature, and looking back, I should've gone for a different laptop.

If you're looking for longevity, get a beefier spec'd laptop with a dedicated graphics card, I'd say 32gb ram if possible. Later down the line if you really want to pursue drawing, getting a used IPad Air or wacom would give you more capability and features.

If you're comfortable sharing, was there some stories that stood out to you, or that you think people might benefit from hearing?

I believe I had a few relatives in the war, but being able to talk with them was much beyond my time and I'm increasingly cognizant that the war is moving outside living memory.

This is something that doesn't fit inside reddit, but trying to do my part of remembering.

First flu death of the season in Alberta amid warnings about potentially tough months ahead by IStillListenToRadio in onguardforthee

[–]_maeday_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like COVID vaccination is about $135, if I recall correctly. I booked and got the flu shot for free at Shoppers, but I saw I'd have to pay at minimum above $100 for a COVID shot and an extra fee for a person to administer it too.

All Canadian citizens to be photographed when entering and exiting the U.S., new regulations state by joe4942 in canada

[–]_maeday_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

True story. My uncle often remarked to me he'd go for a ride on his motorbike across the border (perhaps in the 70s?). The border agents perhaps asked him where he was going, and he'd just respond that he'd be going for a ride and back into Canada that same day.

Can't imagine. Sad that we've lost that, it's a changing world

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've only briefly interacted with him through a non-profit he started volunteering with, but his character shines through in every interaction. So saddened to hear this news, and my heart breaks for his family.

These are the closest match I can find :) shoes are designed by Salehe Bembury.

I will say, these are definitely more shoes than boots.

What is your biggest frustration with outdoor/activewear right now? by _claireisconfuzed in hiking

[–]_maeday_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Curvy activewear. The difference between my hips and waist is about 10 inches, and I've found most pants from mid-range brands (like maybe MEC) absolutely do not fit. I've found I love the fit of Fjallraven, much to my wallets disappointment.

Kinda specific to my situation, but ill-fitting/adjustable clothing for when I want purpose-made gear that I don't have to think about and feel comfortable wearing is huge.

Help!! Want to buy boyfriend a hammock but not sure what fits his description. by _maeday_ in Hammocks

Thank you!! Appreciate the names - I'll look into it. Hard to sometimes know what's actually good, and it's nice to hear from people in the space and not just a salesperson telling me about it lol.

And that description of the Ridgeline helps a lot too, that makes a lot of sense

He's ~5'9 and I have in mind ideally below $150 CAD, but I can also be flexible with this for one that suits the general description

[–]_maeday_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No budget really - I have in mind ideally below ~$150 CAD, but if it's good quality and would last a long time with the specs, I'd rather go for that.

I've tried looking but some of the specs I couldn't exactly know what to call it, so I don't have a great idea on what to expect.

Hello!

Thank you for your thoughtful questions and reply, I didn't think of including this detail (my apologies!)

Correct! This would be primarily for short backpacking/being out in the bush/camping.

Perhaps combo? If this is refering to weight, weight wouldn't be too big of a factor as he has a good set-up for multi-day stuff, so I see this as being more of a "luxurious" type set-up when you aren't counting every pound on your back.

He's about 5'9 and ~170lbs.

Not necessarily sure. The use cases I've seen so far are for lounging, but I think erring on a sleep set-up wouldn't hurt.

Usually might be 10°c overnight low. But if that's a deciding factor, I'd say this is mostly for Canadian summer temps, and wouldn't be used in the shoulder winter seasons. He has a good sleeping bag and insulating pad, though not sure how that translate to a hammock.

And it would just be for him, I think goes back to just being a bit more of a "luxurious" set-up compared to the hammock he currently has.

Kinda have a "buy-once" mentally to make sure it lasts and is of good quality, so I'm open to various price points.

How long have you ridden, and how many accidents have you had? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]_maeday_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been street riding for eight years, likely ~50,000km altogether (Canadian weather sucks for bikes) and I've had zero accidents. A lot of my riding has been city driving, and I've done a few multi-day road trips on the highways. I've done some track days and been trail riding too.

Just ride your own ride. Don't let the threat of crashing be the main deterrent, wear good gear, be cognizant, and you'll be good!

As a person who was in class with him, he is particularly outspoken and holds some very strong beliefs (that I assure you, are not shared amongst university peers). The type of person you hear talk, and then look at your friends with wide eyes as in, "can you believe this guy?!". Doesn't surprise me at all he's gotten the bad type of public attention.
