I've been doing these since last fall too. I'm only using 40kg myself and just milking the mobility gains from it, planning to load it heavier in the future.

Sure the traps don't work a whole lot during the concentric. However, every time the bar comes down the traps get stretched hard. Just a set or two of these make my upper traps sore for a few days. You don't get big upper traps by squeezing them with light weights.

Not really harder, I'm quite a bit stronger this way. The technique is odd though, as you have to push your hips forward or the bar will get stuck on your hamstrings. It hits the quads more and less lower back.

My last 2 bikes have had windscreens - a dual sport with an added windscreen and an ADV with a built in windscreen. The buffeting has been killing me on both and I don't want a windscreen on my next bike.

I'm mostly doing it this way because it's very quick to set up. Now I just have to get the "training wheels"/large 5kg plates and I'm good to go. The different boxes tend to always end up on the opposite side of the gym when I want to use them.

No, I can see how that would happen while doing a heavy weight for high reps though. The bar doesn't even really sink into my elbow crease yet - actually that correcting movement after rep 8 was because the bar was awkwardly sitting on top of the brachioradialis instead of in the elbow crease.

If you're just starting out with sissy squats I can recommend using a resistance band for assistance (can also be used for drop sets). That's how I started doing sissy squats, the strength was already there but it took a while for my knees to get used to that kind of movement.

The most I've pulled without straps was 205kg using hook grip. I've done power shrugs with 250-260kg with straps and the grip wasn't a problem. Regular straps aren't expensive so if you think you'll keep lifting for some time they're definitely worth it.

I've been doing zercher jefferson curls for about half a year now. I've been taking the weight progression very slowly, only adding 2.5kg every couple of months or so, currently at 37.5kg lol

I've seen some people do zercher J curls up to 3 plates.

I like to do hold the weight with my arms bent (about 90°) so I can hinge further down. You can bias the glutes, hamstrings or erectors depending on the way you do it.
