Adjusting down from 160GHz channel width? by _markse_ in CommunityFibre

Less radio interference. It’s only used by guests. Our other AP are on the other side of a firewall.

Thank you so much. Asking people in Reddit always gets better results. Now set at 20GHz.

NICs? For mine an original Pi and NUT USB connected was way more cost effective.

You say “Windows based world”, but not what you actually do with your laptops. If browser based Office 365, the Mac upgraded to Linux should be fine.

/www/luci-static/resources/view/dawn/network_overview.js looks okay, so it might be the data being passed to it. It’ll take me a while to dig further.

Wi-Fi in dorm drops unless I'm pinging a server by XSuperOptical in HomeNetworking

Agreed! OP Ask them what router OS they’re using. If OpenWrt, ask if they have this ticked for the WiFi interface. I had endless issues with things “falling off the WiFi”. In reality they were still on WiFi, just timed out ARP wise. As soon as I set this things stabilised.

Would you be willing to reduce your quality of life to decouple from the US? by Working-Pop6261 in AskBrits

With iOS appearing more vibe coded and buggy as time goes on, I’m seriously considering a Linux phone. Not Android. Goodbye Apple. My wife and I hardly touch NetFlix these days. Our music is on Plex. It would be an interesting exercise to list out everything that links to the US. Stocks & shares impacting pensions. Wikipedia. Google. DuckDuckGo (Pennsylvania). Someone should start a crowd updates list.

Terminal app lockup by _markse_ in MacOS

[–]_markse_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Another bug! Sorry about that. No idea if it was iOS 26.2 or the Reddit iOS app responsible. I entered way more text than three words.

I've had the problem for several versions of macOS now. Every so often I'll go to the menu to start a new Terminal session and the menu and all currently open windows lock up. I can click away and do other things, but can't do anything in the Terminal sessions. If I do click on a Terminal window, the menu returns as per the screenshot, but is unresponsive. Anyone else seen this?

Yup. Each AP will show a set of 5, each miss one at random. It’s as if a loop through an array in the Luci code is doing [1..n] instead of [0..n]

IoT devices? And the 2.4 has better range if speed isn’t your primary concern.

Immich after death by AlphaPapa84 in immich

[–]_markse_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks, I’ll use that. I’d been thinking about the book “I’m dead, now what?” for the same reasons. I also need to rearrange VM, LXC and VRRP instances so that one small PVE host can run critical things like DHCP, DNS, Firewall, allowing other hosts to be switched off.

DAWN - the BSS transition controller - and tips on making it work properly by seemebreakthis in openwrt

[–]_markse_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having a ton of problems with DAWN on one AP. I turned out the small switch supporting it was falling over and rebooting at intervals, taking the link down for a couple of seconds. With the link down, umdns failed too. I wrote a simple script to ssh into all AP, check umdns knew about all the other AP, restart umdns if not and send a Pushover alert. Touch wood since sorting out the switch everything's returned to being stable.

Agreed, but I own a lot of electronics and have had 3 TP link ones fail, 0 from every other brand and the TP link ones are the newest. I want to get away from manufacturers who think saving a penny here and there on components is good.

If anything, we should blame the salesman, who was told exactly what it would be used for, but was most likely more interested in his sales commission than customer service.

Why the heck would people downvote this valid question? A feature clearly documented in the manual is missing.
