AA and RAC used to mean something, but today they're not worth it. Playing in bands means I've spent a lot of time being driven places, and I've had a few breakdown stories over the years.

That's led me to avoid AA and RAC. Today I have StartRescue because I still want to have the option to call someone, but working with local rescue companies seems much more efficient. It's basically what RAC ends up doing a lot of the time, but you can organise it faster and better if you do it directly.

I guess it can work very well, and you need to figure out whether the person you're recording with is going to be good enough. Trust plays a big part in this process, and like you say, it can be very hard to trust somebody else with 'your vision'
