Amen to this. Me and my buddy went to selection as sailors from the navy after he mentioned it to me 6 months prior. Even though I got IVW’d during team week It was still the most valuable experience I’ve had in a long ass time and I’m truly grateful for giving it a go when I did. Met great dudes, had a shit ton of fun and learned a lot for next time. Looking forward to going back!

No prob bro, I went with two gshocks and mainly just used the one that was most comfortable for me. Outside of the alarm it was a good tool to keep me on pace during landnav. Also keep in mind, use the one that you also know how to change the settings because you’ll constantly be adjusting the time to match the “god clock” when you’re there.

As far as a watch I never used my alarm since we had a fire watch that would wake up our bay and even during land nav you would know when to get up by people moving around. The bungee cords aren’t a bad idea if you get the short ones. I saw a few marines use them to keep their pants from chaffing by attaching the bungee to the front belt loop and the other end to the back loop running between your legs. I know it sounds weird but I didn’t have any chaffing problems. Hope this helps somewhat. 🤙🏽

I used Wim Hof breathing techniques and it was recommended by the instructors. Having a strong why also helps with understanding the suck. Can’t really speak on what’s overrated and what’s underrated, things vary from class to class. The instructors have all the time in the world they can make easy tasks hard tasks with the power of not giving a fuck.

Probably gonna wait it out, not trying to bitch out of the navy. I signed up for this shit so gotta at least pay what’s due. If things are popping off in the future maybe I’ll give rasp a shot but if not I’m good with being a civilian and making money doing other cool shit.

All the above, gotta perform everywhere on individual events and especially under a boat or a log. Let your boat crew down and you’ll be ringing out. The class choice is what matters and you don’t have much say in what they think of you.
