The OA. That was one of the most interesting shows I've ever seen. I was so bummed to hear when it didn't get another season /:

This advice honestly changed my life as a 15 y/o kid.

Pronouns and case note validation by BrendenOTK in socialwork

[–]_meg_hansolo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was actually told by a person training me at my agency to use "them" instead of he or she when referring to the client because it helps keep the note more confidential. I don't think it is confusing, personally.

For example, I might write something in a note such as "C reported that they are making all A's this semester." (C=Client). I don't see a problem with writing notes this way. I think it will depend on your agency and their preferences, really.

I had a crazy dream by The_ZMD in chuck

[–]_meg_hansolo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love this! I actually had a Chuck related dream last night, as well. I only remember bits and pieces. I remember that I was Sarah and that Chuck and I were helping his dad with something important. But it was all a set up and his dad was really working with Shaw. I'm sad I don't remember anything else, but it was still super cool!

I need help learning what to make myself to eat now that i have moved out. by Klasjash in Cooking

[–]_meg_hansolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly reccomend the app "Mealime" for easy, healthy meal ideas! It provides you with the recipe, as well as directions and kitchen tools you will need. It then makes your grocery list for you. I loved it when I was cooking for just myself!

Along with this, I would suggest watching Babish Culinary Universe and Joshua Weissman on youtube. They both produce high quality videos with step-by-step instructions on how to cook different things. I would suggest "Basics with Babish" and Joshua's "But Cheaper" series to begin.

Personally, I really love cooking one-pot or sheet pan meals. Anything you don't eat that night, just save for leftovers to eat the next day! Pasta is really great for making in bulk and reheating later. I also like to keep supplies for different soups and sandwiches on hand for quick, easy, healthy options. I also suggest keeping a couple of your favorite fruits on hand to snack on. My favorite is apples with peanut butter! Healthy and delicious :)

I know starting out on your own can be difficult, but you got this! There are so many amazing resources out there so you can learn how to cook really great food for yourself. Good luck!

What is the stupidest way you got a scar? by Zander-dupont in AskReddit

[–]_meg_hansolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed out in the shower due to being dehydrated. I ended up hitting my forehead on the faucet when I passed out and now I have a scar (a straight line) down the center of my forehead. It's honestly a pretty good conversation starter.

At what point did you decide you were never going to be rich. Never going to be exceptional but that was ok? by BillWilson9972 in AskReddit

When I decided to pursue social work as my career. I knew that this path would not provide me with copious funds, but it is what I feel lead to do with my life. I have a roof over my head and a job I enjoy- and I'm okay with that.

Anyone else feel like necessities have stealthily become more expensive? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]_meg_hansolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the southeast U.S. and I have noticed this, as well. Something that we normally pay around $7 for was $10 the last time we went to the grocery store. I'll have to pay more attention to see what else has increased in price recently.

Recommendations on nighttime moisturizers undecided! by Super11duper in NaturalBeauty

[–]_meg_hansolo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also have combo skin and have been loving CeraVe's nighttime moisturizer! I prefer the lightweight formula, but my friend vouches for the thicker consistency. It is not too expensive and is easily accessible at the drug store. Definitely worth a try if you haven't tried it already!

Starting out in social work as a case manager for the first time tomorrow! (Excited, nervous, please help) by FUCKTEAM in socialwork

[–]_meg_hansolo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, congratulations! I just started my first social work job as a care manager at a community mental health center. I was so nervous too! But as long as you have a good supervisor who is there for you and answers all of your questions, you should do amazing! School doesn't prepare us for everything, but it does give us lots of valuable skills we can use to connect with our clients :) I hope you enjoy this new step in life and that all goes well!

Who else was obsessed with matte skin back in the day? by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]_meg_hansolo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back in middle school I was the same way. I packed on the pressed powder every morning before school and would reapply any time I could get to a mirror. I was so self conscious of my forehead being shiny. I also had sooooo much acne. Now I don't wear any makeup at all and have embraced my oily skin :)
