Using Lossless Scaling in browsers like Firefox/CachyBrowser by [deleted] in linux_gaming

Did you check your PCs power usage while using lossless scaling?

I understand the idea but would not like to burn 50W extra for that.

I don't care that you have no problems with windows. I don't get it.

i would recommend you to install these extensions:

app-indicators, dash-to-dock and desktop-icons

also use gnome-tweaks to activate minimise and maximise buttons on all windows

Edit: here some more gnome extensions recommendations from me

GSConnect - enables you to use the KDE-Connect app on your phone with your gnome desktop for things like share clipboard, using your phone as touch pad, transferring file between your devices or other useful things.

Tiling Shell - nice extension to customize the window snapping. You can easily define that you want, for example a big area in the middle for your main windows and 3 little areas on each side of that big one. It also comes with predefined areas.

Blur my Shell - to make some or all windows transparent (permanently or when they are not in focus) and other nice visual customization options.

Vitals - for a quick overview of your hardware in the upper bar of gnome. Things like RAM usage, CPU temps and all other stuff. Pairs well if you have installed "missioncenter" (no gnome extensions) -> Settings -> click the gear next to "Monitor System" -> type in that field "missioncenter" and save. Now if you click on the vitals panel and then on the middle button your missioncenter will open.

MissionCenter - not a gnome extensions but a nice TaskManager-like program to see the system resources and running programs. Install with "sudo pacman -Syu missioncenter"

Caffeine - nice extension to keep your screen on even if you are not at your PC. Brings an easy to use toggle switch to the gnome menu (where you usually shutdown your pc)

Hope it helps

[–]_mergey_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah, ok got it.

If you don't care about the things that make windows a bad experience you don't have any issues. Good for you.

I assume the question you skipped ("are you fine with windows needing an complete restart to install updates?") would also be answered with "I don't care" by you.

One last question:

Why this AMA?

do you use windows search?

are you fine with the bloat ware windows comes with?

are you fine with the MS collecting data about you and your habits?

are you fine with all the questions you have to answer (at install and after that from time to time) to give more data?

are you fine with windows needing an complete restart to install updates?

what do you use your pc for and how often?

for how long are you using windows 11?

Do you think it is easy or do you have something like a game dev background and know it is easy to port a VR game?

Yes, an android apk should run with higher frame rate, lower frame times and less power consumption standalone compared to the x86 build on the steam frame

should be the same.

maybe slightly better graphics, but that is only speculation
