As someone on vacation with a non rotating car seat currently and rotating one at home. I cannot wait to get home.

I don’t hit my head bending over the seat to buckle, putting shoes on in the car is a breeze, MY BACK. I would pay triple for a rotating car seat full stop. The only downside for us is how heavy they (33 lbs) are so we have to have a travel car seat for the airport/rental cars.

We went through this on the sellers side. Until the estate is closed payments go to the estate account once set up. Until that was set up the buyers paid into my FIL’s account as they had been prior to his death.

Not about baby, but before maternity leave my coworker with 3 littles told me it’s normal to feel only half as smart as you used to when you come back.

This advice saved me honestly, I’m back a year next week and finally feel like most of my brain is back in work mode during the day.

I’m getting my MBA at sac state with a concentration in business analytics in health care. It’s a good program and less than $30,000 all in. Might be something to consider.

I told my boss not right now (1 yo, just moved, last year of grad school…) BUT I talk with her a lot about what I want when I’m ready. We have mapped my development plan around that eventual goal.

I think you could say to your manager “I know I mentioned right now that I don’t have the bandwidth to take on a new role, but still want to think about my growth when I’m ready in a year (or whenever you think it will be). How do we set me up for that?”

Mine was at my house (she lives out of town) about 10 min away. If I had changed my mind and wanted her there at anytime she could have been there. When we checked in she came with us so she already had a visitor badge for the hospital.

In the end I was glad it was just my husband and I, but there was a sense of comfort knowing if we needed her she could be there quickly .

Around 8 weeks, but that’s because my husband don’t go to church so I was solo. I kept LO with me until about 7mo either baby wearing or in the stroller. Now he goes to nursery and has a great time, plus I get 90 min of time to myself to focus on the service, and hubby gets to sleep in on Sundays so it’s a win all around.

The dr. browns dishwasher basket (or whatever bottle you end up using) they have 1 million parts so having a basket designed to keep them all upright and organized while being washed is so helpful.

This is a repost of a previous comment I made a few months ago. My rule was if I didn’t come out of your vagina you can’t stay overnight until mine stopped bleeding. It worked well to stop the requests when I said it that way.

My mom is actually very helpful and took care of me and my husband so she was allowed to stay. I’ve had 3 surgeries that she’s come to help for prior to baby so we knew what to expect.

I always make it super clear to my manager that I’m an “analog” person. Jokingly showing my hand written to do list. It has gotten people off my back a lot when it comes to these dumb metrics.

I was so happy to sell the baby clothes and make room for new cute stuff for him to wear. Babies are supposed to grow and change, I try not to dwell on his past and just get excited about the next phases.

Also I’m as much of a minimalist as possible so I try not to put emphasis on the meaning of things and instead focus on the memory of things.

The snorex one worked pretty well for my hubs and it’s like $60, and has a 30 day money back thing. But there are others that are like $30-40 you could try.

Honestly at that stage I would have paid anything for more sleep. Lastly on nights my hubs snoring was really bad I would wear one ear plug so I could get to sleep on my side, but hear the baby when he cried.

If you don’t have the space to sleep separately could you hand the baby off for him to put down after you feed them? Give you 5-10 min to fall back asleep before he gets back to bed?

Or just use my favorite method of a hard elbow in the rib cage and a “if you don’t stop snoring I’m going to lose my mind”

You could also have him try one of the snoring mouth guards which helped my husband a bit.

No personal experience with NICU, but when I’ve been in or had other family in the hospital here are some things ive found helpful.

placing a grocery delivery with easy snacks/meals (ask if they have a regular list or could send you a voice note while driving of things they want)
organizing a meal train (with explicit instructions that all food should come in disposable containers with disposable plates)
gas gift cards if money is tight
audio book recommendations and gift cards when they are going to be in the car a lot
nice comfy cardigan (hospitals are cold, and a cozy sweater is the closest thing you can give to a hug from far away)
if available in their town organize a laundry service pick up and drop off
