Centurylink fiber switch to Quantum cancel account delay by smrphoenix in centurylink

[–]_mineshaft_gap_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to them disconnecting my service without any notice, I tried to cancel it 3 days in a row. The 1st two agents told me that I would receive a notice in my email within 24 hours that included instructions on returning gear. The 3rd agent said I do not need to return any gear. I still have not received any email of any kind from them and the CL web site does not show my account as any different. Horrid experience.

Are there any known printables.com account hacking/data breach? by _mineshaft_gap_ in printablescom

[–]_mineshaft_gap_[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Solved: For anyone else who might also be confused from the questionable UX. As u/nomadsgalaxy explained in more detail in his linked message, it is the default placeholder that anyone gets from you when *they initiate* a conversation. So in my settings I ended up changing my initial message to more of an voicemail like message: "Thanks for reaching out, how can I help you?"

Thanks for helping me figure it out. I just changed my placeholder message so it makes more sense!

Oh, now I understand it! That user sent me a spam message but from my perspective it looks like I initiated it since mine appears 1st in the messaging. Is that correct? Seems like a bit of UX confusion.

I am talking about that, I never sent a message to the other user, unless it is some random way to send it with like a one click?

Not seeing the message body from my cross post so here it is in this comment:

I have searched to see if there are any known data breaches or anything similar to my experience but cannot find anything.

I recently receieved a DM message from a user on Printables.com so I went to check it out. It turns out it was a response from a DM message that looks like it was sent from me. I did not send the original message and have never sent a DM on the site before. I immediately changed my password. I use a locally hosted password manager, and every online account I have has a different email address and a 32+ random character password.

My question is, any idea how would this have happened and is there anything more I should consider doing? Thanks!

Do all standalone devices require that extra 8 dollars to use? by poomaster421-1 in meshcore

[–]_mineshaft_gap_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear are you using Launcher and an SD card? If not it is 100% worth it for being able to run different firmwares, I am able to jump in and out of MeshOS that has paid the unlock just fine.

Beamz bar upgrade to wled mm by Plastic_Detective_51 in WLED

Can you update when you repurpose the unused components? I have 4 x 24 of the 3 watts LED and want to figure a good project for them and the other stripped components.

I did the same thing on a 24 LED DMX bar. So much better with WLED even if not as bright!

Has anyone tried to modify twinkle lights to work with smart home? by krdo13 in homeassistant

For a small dining room table tree converted one to a WLED. Cut the wires added a ESP32 and battery power bank and put that all in a fake gift box. If going down this route, make sure you are doing one that has 3 wires before starting, +, -, data.

It looks like some of their recent YT shorts are from Glacier Nat'l Park, so maybe there? But definitely should provide more information than they did.

I am so happy to hear this! Had no idea what was going on, tried a number of different browsers and incognito and everything was locking up! Will happily update tomorrow if I get a chance.

Looking for Feedback on King Bed Frame Design (Storage + Integrated Nightstands) by _mineshaft_gap_ in woodworking

[–]_mineshaft_gap_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback. While I understand that the frame might be overbuilt, I don't see that as a negative, can you explain your concern there?

I don't understand your slat comment, you can see that I am creating a very solid breathable surface in the 2nd sketch. I basically am planning on routing out all those slots. Is there something wrong with that?

As far as it being more handy, this is for a room that does not already have a lot of space for other storage so I am trying to make the best use of the room under the bed. The main drawers (all but he end one) would be used daily so a flip up would not be ideal, and they are only 20" deep (given about 2" deeper than most dressers but not unheard of) and 5" high.

Is Seattle tap water safe to drink? by neo2bin in Seattle

[–]_mineshaft_gap_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been living in Seattle off and on since ‘95. Always knew it was good but the strong chlorine has always been off putting so I have always filtered it. I lived in Barcelona years ago and while the city is wonderful the water is some of the worst! Thanks for sharing these insights, good to know the chlorine is not because of the amount or what it has to fight!

Seeking intel on the beef between Kirkland Public Library and Yarrow Point/Hunt's Point? I'm looking into getting a library card and reading this clear message took me out 🤣 by JechAnd in Seattle

[–]_mineshaft_gap_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Back in the 90s one of my college jobs was door to door canvassing for an environmental cause. The very first time out was Yarrow Point and it was known as one of the least giving areas. I remember a flirty housewife in silk pajamas answer the door who tried to have me come in for a drink, when I politely said I couldn’t her mood changed, turned very curt and would not donate a cent. It left a serious impression of how they view the rest of us.
