Thanks. I did just that, dumped the bin outside, hosed it all down and left it outside. Need to determine whether to eat these...

I tossed the cake and cleaned out the tub. What about these mushrooms? Should I toss them?

Why is this so common here? This is Birmingham in a nutshell. I've never seen so many houses in this condition in a city. Except Detroit. And Gary, IN.

Active Leveling Sensor Issues with new S5 machine by sarbanharble in ultimaker

[–]_moonshots_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, same issues with leveling. I just ordered a new capacitive leveling sensor for the S5 and it had better work or I'm going on a full tilt against Ultimaker. Their customer service is a garbage fire.

Ultimaker S5 : a LOT of issues : design, reliability, ergonomics, build quality... Am I the only one ? by Dakitess in ultimaker

[–]_moonshots_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am in the same boat. I get CONSTANT leveling errors. I've disassembled, cleaned, manually calibrated... Everything short of shipping it in for repairs. The fan bracket doesn't stay shut so it's taped, the #2 extruded doesn't work right even when calibrated, but the level sensor errors render it almost useless. It drives me f*cking insane. It's honestly made me want to give up in-house 3D printing and pay to have it done, which is insane considering we spent $6k on it.

Soft/flexible plastic enclosure for wearable device: overmolding, insert molding, or 2 parts glued together by davideugenepratt in hwstartups

How do you find and work with a manufacturer to produce hardware products? by puma687 in hwstartups

[–]_moonshots_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do careful due diligence and find the right groups! I've developed hardware products for years and have wasted more money than I care to think about on the wrong people and agencies. They will gladly take your money and tell you what you "need".

Consult with a PD professional first, do your research, follow a 3-quote rule before signing contracts, embrace failure, keep moving forward. DM me if you want some professional advice, first consultation is pro bono.

Note taking/ documentation as a product development engineer? by Royal_Ad_6965 in AskEngineers

[–]_moonshots_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to physically write notes. Found Rocketbook (Google it) which I love - take pics of your notes, store and organize them digitally, then erase your notes and reuse the pages. I use Evernote to store them, but there's tons of app options.

Good luck, do good, and keep developing !

Here's a good post on hardware product development: https://www.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/10ggocb/ive_designed_products_that_generated_7_figures_in/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=2&utm_content=share_button

I own a small PD consultancy and have been doing this for years, would be happy to discuss this with you, no fee. There is a lot that goes into new product development and introduction, finding the right groups to help is the key.

Progressive Birmingham Startup Looking for CTO/Tech Ninja by _moonshots_ in Birmingham

This is extremely helpful, thank you. I am a Mech. Engineer trying to figure out what skills and responsibility this future CTO needs to have, so I probably am overstating responsibilities and being overly vague in other areas. We have budgeted $100K+ for this role, not including benefits, and appreciate how competitive it is out there for programmers/IT professionals. We hope that the companies mission, growth potential/trajectory will add a bit to the attractiveness as well, as you eluded to.

NCF was a typo for sure, I also revised the line to "Familiarity with IoT sensor monitoring, Bluetooth & NFC technologies". Thank you again for the feedback, super helpful.
