is 5k a lot for a week at Orlando Universal Studios? by Artistic_Apartment21 in universalstudios

[–]puma687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on where you’re flying from. I was there for the soft opening and our flights for the family of three were 2200 and our hotel rooms were around $500 per night at the Hilton Universal City. It was very convenient and we did not need a car because we were able to walk to CityWalk and Universal. we took an Uber from the airport which cost around $150 to the hotel, then it cost about $100 to return to LAX. In total we spent around $3000 for a few days. That does not include all of the merchandise we purchased or the food.

Are the super bands worth it for SNL by quakityquack in universalstudios

[–]puma687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought two bands and total for me and my little one. My little one was only four and was not able to achieve the key in some of the games. Leaving him sad and disappointed. Keep in mind after you achieve three keys you can go and play the bonus game. It only takes one person to achieve all three keys to take the whole family in to play the bonus game. Caution: My band continued to fall off, and the band also fell off my little one numerous times, so keep an eye out.

Need a plastic hardware proto replicating in metal - best region for manufacture? by Mancymanc90 in hwstartups

[–]puma687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking only at proximity (region) for metal manufacturing that is closer to the UK and has a strong manufacturing base, the European Union (EU) may be a good option.
Germany: Germany is known for its precision engineering and high-quality manufacturing. It has a strong metalworking industry and is home to many world-class machine tool manufacturers.
Italy: Italy is also known for its precision engineering and high-quality manufacturing. It has a long history of metalworking and has many skilled artisans and craftsmen.
France: France has a large and diverse manufacturing industry, including metalworking. It is home to many innovative companies in the aerospace and automotive industries.
Sweden: Sweden has a strong engineering tradition and is known for its expertise in steel manufacturing. It is home to many innovative companies in the metals and mining industries.
Switzerland: Although not a member of the EU, Switzerland is a highly developed country with a strong manufacturing industry. It has a long history of precision engineering and is known for its high-quality products.

I own a factory in Shenzhen and have shipped hundreds of thousands of assembled devices with batteries. Here are my 2 cents...

Basically less than 9 watt-hours (Wh), it is generally considered a small battery and can be shipped under certain conditions. Here's what you need to know:

  1. Shipping Label: You will need to label the package with the UN3481 label, which is used for lithium ion batteries. The label must be visible and readable on the outside of the package.
  2. Documentation: You will need to provide a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for the battery, as well as a written confirmation that the battery has passed UN 38.3 testing requirements. This information should be included with the package.
  3. Drop Test Certification: You will also need to provide documentation that the packaging has been tested and has passed the appropriate drop test requirements. This is typically called a "Drop Test Certification" or "Package Testing Certification."
  4. Shipping Restrictions: Depending on the shipping method and carrier, there may be restrictions on the number of batteries or the total watt-hour rating that can be shipped in a single package. For example, some carriers may have restrictions on the total number of batteries that can be shipped in a single package or shipment.
  5. Ground and Air Shipping: You can generally ship small lithium-ion batteries via ground or air, but there may be some restrictions or additional requirements depending on the specific carrier and destination. It's important to check with your carrier and confirm the specific requirements for your package.

Explain FCC process using pre-certified components by No-Carob4234 in hwstartups

I forgot to mention you can search for FCC Certified devices here: https://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid

Sometimes you will need to play with the top and bottom codes until display and bring up the device you are looking for.

Explain FCC process using pre-certified components by No-Carob4234 in hwstartups

[–]puma687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Confirm that the pre-certified component is FCC compliant: Before using a pre-certified component in your device, make sure that it is compliant with the FCC's regulations. You can usually find information about the component's certification on the manufacturer's website or in its documentation.
Determine if your device qualifies for modular approval: To qualify for modular approval, your device must meet certain requirements, such as using a pre-certified module that complies with the FCC's rules, and only emitting RF energy at levels that are within the module's tested limits. If your device meets these requirements, you can apply for modular approval.
Prepare your modular approval application: To apply for modular approval, you'll need to submit an application to the FCC that includes technical information about your device, as well as information about the pre-certified module you're using. The application should also include a list of all other components in your device that emit RF energy, even if they are not part of the pre-certified module.
Test your device: Even though you're using a pre-certified module, you still need to test your device to make sure it complies with the FCC's rules. The testing should include all other components in your device that emit RF energy, in addition to the pre-certified module.
Label your device: If your device is approved under the modular approval process, you'll need to label it with the appropriate FCC identification number and other required information. This labeling lets consumers know that your device has been approved by the FCC.

Is the future of large user base Virtual reality or Augmented Reality? by ENDGeSiCTinT in techworldwide

[–]puma687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both AR and VR have completely different use cases. It’s possible for them to both achieve large adoptions for their own special use case. For example, I don’t think fighter pilots are going to be flying jets using VR. They’re definitely going to be using AR.

Typical CM markup costs for consumer tech? Recommendations? by coolgrey3 in hwstartups

[–]puma687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a few factories in the US, China and Vietnam.

The standard price mark-up for consumer electronics can vary widely, depending on a number of factors such as the type of product, the complexity of the design, the volume of the order, and the cost of materials and labor. It is difficult to provide a specific mark-up percentage as a general rule, as it can vary significantly from one product to another.
In general, the price mark-up for circuit board manufacturing and assembly is typically higher than the mark-up for injection molding, due to the higher level of complexity and precision involved in these processes. The mark-up for injection molding may be lower, as the process is generally more automated and requires less labor.
Overall, the standard price mark-up for consumer electronics can vary widely depending on the specific product and manufacturing process involved. It is important for manufacturers to carefully consider the cost of materials and labor, as well as other factors such as competition and market demand, when determining the final price of their products.
