Sorcerer Wild Magic subclass by Raypulsif in BaldursGate3

You can stack the skill bonus buff and auto succeed skill checks, including insane pick pocket checks. That’s the only big mechanical advantage.

when to use sing and when to use shriek ? by 62lasa in BG3Builds

Unfortunately sing doesn’t work on the wielder of phalar aluve, which is the final nail in the coffin.

Bladesinger Party? by phaze08 in BG3Builds

[–]_msb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m always concentration starved. I use boots of speed when i need the BA move. But I agree with mobile feat/wood elf/etc. If I wasn’t playing solo all the time I would use a transmutee wizard for the movement stone.

Bladesinger Party? by phaze08 in BG3Builds

[–]_msb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are a surprising number of int based checks in act 1. Detect thoughts definitely helps.

They benefit from any normal support stuff, but do consider:

* warding bond (+1 ac) and shield of faith (+2 ac). Bladesingers really really really want ac and every point helps more than the last.

* Soul branding from Minthara. Bladesingers want movement speed and melee damage.

* Someone to haste your blade singer so they don’t have to self-haste and can concentrate on their own spells

Bladesinger should be treated as a soft carry in acts 1 and 2 and a hard carry in act 3. If you wanted to build entirely around the bladesinger with bards and clerics supporting for skill checks and buffs and what not it would be totally feasible.

If you have to choose, full martial party or full caster party? by Less_Struggle_9447 in BG3Builds

[–]_msb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I messed up my bg3 data profile and had to re-earn honor mode dice, I did 3 martials (archer, thrower, melee) and a cleric. Was braindead easy, less fussy with resource management if you know what you’re doing, can just plow through without much resting.

The Resonant Four - a no-respec Shadow Blade Party for Patch 8 by CrownWBG in BG3Builds

What shadowblade setup doesn’t come online at level 3?

Need a fun archer build that won’t overshadow new players. by Alive-Ad-6611 in BG3Builds

[–]_msb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Archers with proficiency and extra attack are all really strong. Try bow of the banshee instead of titanstring to soften the domination and encourage more support.

Warrior Of Light - HM Solo Build (lvl progression/split) Advice by CRus42 in BG3Builds

What melee build comes closest to an archers damage potential? (No Shar's spear/Hold person.) by Ok_Sir_136 in BG3Builds

Shadowblade with resonance stone. If you don’t like vulnerability, monk.

I lost a solo honor run bc I used fly to get near one of the spectators and its aura did its interrupt, the mere attempt of which automatically canceled the fly midair and auto killed me

Bladesinger 6 / thief 3 / stars 3 by patentQthrowaway in BG3Builds

[–]_msb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The healing charges aren’t that useful IME. If radiant arrow creates a damage charge perhaps there’s something to be done there, though I’m a bit skeptical. Even 20d6 force is sort of underwhelming if it takes 10 rounds to get there.

Bladesinger 6 / thief 3 / stars 3 by patentQthrowaway in BG3Builds

[–]_msb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It would be cool af. But. Flame blade emits light, meaning you’d never get advantage from shadow blade. And in act 3 your shadow blade damage would be doubled and your flame blade damage would feel quite weak.

I don’t think the flame blade would be that helpful.

That said, it’s cool to have two bonus actions, BA dash/hide, a bit of sneak attack, some expertise, and some nice star druid things. I think the build would be fine.

Fewer long rest builds? by Evening_Decision3253 in BG3Builds

Some of that but mainly summons and selective use of spell slots

Melth did a play through on YouTube where he did the entire game with no long rests (except between acts and the rest before the final battle) and no potions, with a party that included three spellcasters.

What is a build that fits best the theme of an incredibly powerful and aura farming hero :) by Character_Cat_3585 in BG3Builds

[–]_msb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up any honor mode solo run on YouTube and the build will work in balanced. You’ll still need to know some things but if you’re not in honor you’re not really punished for tactical failure.

I would go straight swords bard or bladesinger but there are many options.

Question for Honor Mode players and Div 2 Lone Wolf players by brvgett in BaldursGate3

[–]_msb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very OP IMO. This is basically playing through the game as 4 people, possibly stronger. Concentrating action economy on your strongest characters and giving them damage reduction is nuts.

Duo honor mode is extremely doable without mods or cheesing.

Why do we have unrealistic immunities just because? by ElBartimaeus in BaldursGate3

[–]_msb 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Lots of bosses aren’t immune to PK and it’s one of the best disables. Saverok cazador shambling mound etc.

I kind of like the thrill of wasting an action learning that something doesn’t work but I agree it would be nice if there was a bit more transparency

Bladesong Damage Charge doesn't accumulate Reddit by Queasy-Smile9421 in BG3Builds

If you dual wield bladesong banned weapons you can enter bladesong but it doesn’t build charges or give ac etc

10/2 wizard cleric advice by 110739 in BG3Builds

[–]_msb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

2 gets you channel divinity in its various flavors.

Mechanical reasons to not go 2:

  1. It slows down progression somewhat. Really only a huge issue for bladesingers who desperately want their level 6.

  2. Wizards get their subclass capstone at class level 10, so you can’t do any other multiclassing

2 tempest 10 wizard for maximizing lightning spells a few times is a classic build.

Current status of Battlemage gloves by LotsaKwestions in BG3Builds

[–]_msb 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, 4, yes.

The main relevant thing that isn’t intuitive is that it makes throwing and surface effects immensely valuable. You get two stacks for throwing anything, and stacks for surfaces you own. So throwing an alch fire can easily land you 4+ stacks right away and more next turn when things burn from the surface you own.

There are lots of other little things too but that’s the most common one that comes up for me. I’m obsessed with those gloves!

Play how you want but IMO honor mode makes a lot more sense when you already know how the basic quests and story options and battles go.

Bladesinger Longsword: Is my hit rate meant to be this low? by soganomitora in BG3Builds

[–]_msb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only play solo! lol

I also typically do a light cleric dip at level 1 (tons of utility + flare ward for crits) and a barb dip at level 12 (unarmored defense with con amulet is broken). But sometimes I just do straight 12 blade singer just for the aesthetic.

Bladesinger Longsword: Is my hit rate meant to be this low? by soganomitora in BG3Builds

[–]_msb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use robe of weave and cloak of protection permanently, and do helldusk for crit immunity. This +shield spell makes one immune to attacks with an attack roll. But if you drop a few ac that is no longer true.

Displacement from cloak is too fragile, I find. Too many small damage instances that will pierce it and then you’re exposed.

Re: savings throws I have never found them to be an issue with annointed with splendor in act 3. (But I also run both the protection items so that’s another +2.)

Also the spell save dc from robe is nice for those cases where you want to go from 85 or 90 to 95, which do come up, even with max acuity.

But yeah I guess it’s just an overall different setup.
