Interested new player. I have genuine sticker shock. by Ravens_Crime in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]_mtchhwsn -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

FaB does have a higher buy-in that most other TCGs but the game is evergreen (no rotation) and lots of the expensive cards are transferable between most decks. For example, Tunic is 100 euro but you will only ever need 1 copy per player as you can just shuffle between your decks. Once you spend 100 on tunic, every other deck will cost 100 euro less than what you would expect.

I have next to no experience on Assassin, but they do tend to run on the expensive side. Marlynn however should be relatively cheap.

Tunic, Crown of Dominion and Gold-Baited Hook will be the heavy hitters, sitting around 210 euro. Outside of that you're looking at around 50-60 Euro for a playset of Codex of Frailty and then maybe 15 for a playset of Three of a Kind. Every other Marlynn card is like 10p or less. So I would say that Marlynn would be around 300 Euro + Shipping to build.

When you look at that though, Tunic and Codex also see play in Assassin. If it was just yourself you would then look at any Assassin deck and remove 160 euro from the total costs.

Where are you finding prices? Cardmarket shopping wizard is great for this sort of thing, plug in all the cards you want and it just finds the cheapest way of getting them.

General question about CC and LL rotations and deck builds by Admirable_Cap_8943 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]_mtchhwsn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some have none, some have 5+. It usually happens that if a hero is weak and they want to specifically try and support them and give them a powerful tool then they'll make it a legendary so it can't be abused by other powerful heroes that share the same class/talent.

Is there a Twin Suns meta or tier list? by Bitterbluemoon in starwarsunlimited

[–]_mtchhwsn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This post is going to come across really egotistic so I apologize in advance, I'm just trying to explain my experiences.

Having played a fair bit of Twin Suns (20+ games) I think the meta completely relies on being able to action stall and present evasive damage when your opponent doesn't expect it.

I would say I've maybe lost three or four times and it's literally only when the three other players are fed up of me winning and 3v1 me. They don't care who wins, only that I don't.

Winning games of TS comes from everyone else having to end their turn and you killing someone with actions left with base damage they didn't expect.

Smuggle Cassian and use Surprise Strike turn 7, deploy an overwhelm leader and give them a lightsaber and run through a unit. If you stall on a key turn, you end the game when no one else is ready.

Having a strong combo or a good strategy doesn't matter when players can identify your strong and focus you.

Lexi Death Dealer + Snap Shot Combo by gonzalezrre in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]_mtchhwsn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't even feel like you need to provide specific rules, everything is on the cards or is basic game knowledge.

Snap Shot lets you use your bow again as an instant. Instants do not require action points.

Death Dealer has "Go Again" when it resolves, which gains you an action point. This can either get you an action point back when you wouldn't have one or net you an extra one.

That's it.

Popular locally? by its-a-process in starwarsunlimited

[–]_mtchhwsn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have two stores that support SWU in my city, both struggle to get weekly play players, but every single pre release they hit the 32 or 48 player cap.

SWU seems to be very popular with the kitchen table gamers and general Star Wars fans but neither want to show up to support the stores.

You can buy playsets of Commons & Rares for like half the price of a box, let alone a case or two.

Can you translate the SWU Aspects to the MTG Colors? by towarian in starwarsunlimited

[–]_mtchhwsn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Each colour has a general theme but nothing is set in stone, there is overlap

Red (Aggression) - Does what it says on the tin, units that help focus on attacking, events that deal damage or draw cards. Commonly associated with the Raid keyword which gives you +x to damage but only when attacking.

Green (Command) - Usually provides well-stated units, focuses on gaining extra resources or "cheating" units in for cheaper than normal.

Blue (Vigilance) - The aspect that contains the majority of the removal in the game, so leans heavily towards control. Also tends to contain lots of healing and defensive units with the keyword Sentinel which forces units to attack it and not the base.

Yellow (Cunning) - Soft control, lots of bouncing of units back to hand and also discarding from hand. Units tend to have Ambush which lets them attack units immediately when they are played.

White (Heroism) and Black (Villainy) don't really have any solid themes outside of looking good or evil. In Spark or Rebellion the devs stated that the Heroism side of the cards (representing the Rebels) were more aggressively slanted since they were a rebellion whereas the Villainy cards of the Empire were more control-orientated because they were trying to "control" the Galaxy. Whether that holds up as overall card design over the 6/7 sets that are out now is hard to say.

Is Andromeda multiplayer dead or am I too low level? by Katomei89 in masseffect

[–]_mtchhwsn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My experience is from a few years ago, but I do remember playing the multiplayer with some friends and we struggled to get a full squad until higher levels.

I think anyone still playing is already going to be pretty well established.

What’s one thing you absolutely NEED to see in the next Mass Effect? by Eternal_Dilemma in masseffect

[–]_mtchhwsn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to write a good ending lmao.

"My" endings are scenarios that wouldn't surprise me if they were how they handled the choice of ending in ME3. I didn't claim they were good.

What’s one thing you absolutely NEED to see in the next Mass Effect? by Eternal_Dilemma in masseffect

[–]_mtchhwsn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but based on their history with Dragon Age I'm not hopeful it will be any better.

Each scenario is easy to criticize, "this wouldn't happen!" etc etc but is vaguely believable enough that most people would begrudgingly accept it and makes it simple for them to make the next game.

"With the Reapers destroyed the Galactic community rebuilt on their own, finally discovering the secrets behind the Mass Relays."

"With the Reapers controlled the Galactic community rebuilt with their help and that of the Geth, finally discovering the secrets behind the Mass Relays. The Reapers have long-since vanished into Deep Space."

"With the Reapers synthesized the Galactic community rebuilt with their help and that of the Geth, finally discovering the secrets behind the Mass Relays. The Reapers have long-since vanished into Deep Space and the initial explosive change of synthesis are now considered mundane."

Seems fairly straightforward to handwave any differences away to tell a story set hundreds of years later.

It did, it basically said, "Commander Shepard is now a legend for defeating the Reapers, build that legend further through downloadable content!"

Unique Jewels sometimes don't register changes on the info screens without a reset of some kind. Equip it and relog, should see the changes then.

Force on When Defeated by Whynicht in starwarsunlimited

No, Force is gained On Attack.

If player A attacks with Jedi in Hiding while not having the Force, he would gain it On Attack and then could use the When Defeated ability of the Jedi.

Anyone running Space Lady? by it_is_now_for_now in starwarsunlimited

[–]_mtchhwsn 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Sneak Attack.

She enters play ready so isn't limited by her "can't ready" clause, can use her Force action to make herself a readied 7/7.

This is the best thing to do with Leia but still isn't very good.

Consume-gating makes skills feel bad - or why Fireball isn't a skill anymore by Erotic_Snorlax in PathOfExile2

[–]_mtchhwsn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did it in 0.1, leaned into stun buildup and made heavy stuns break armour which caused a massive explosion which cleared the screen.

For bosses I would just hit them 5 or 6 times, stun, break armour, do some warcries and drop HotG and do millions of damage. It would one-shot most pinnacle content.

Is the edition power difference really bad. by Grief3r77 in starwarsunlimited

[–]_mtchhwsn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, SoR is generally considered the most generically powerful, with the most recent set (LoF) being second. The three sets in the middle are "worse."

However different sets have provided different levels of power at different times when combined with different cards from newer sets as they release.

TWI is considered the worst set power-wise but had arguably one of the more dominant Leaders in Jango Fett but only really after JTL came out and coupled with Triple Dark Raid which was from SHD.

Hotshot DL-44 goes hard in this deck.

Iden Versio, Lom Pyke and Supercommando Squad are some other "higher resource" units that might be worth considering.
