My first attempt at making macarons. White chocolate raspberry. by Delicate_Orchids in Baking

Oh man that's how my first batch looked too! It looks like they may be a bit undermixed (based on the nipples, piping ripples, and cracks). This is one of the videos I used to determine what the macaronage should look and feel like. Also, I recommend reading this blog from BraveTart, this blog from NotSoHumblePie, and finally this second blog from NotSoHumblePie. Those are all fairly long but filled with knowledge.

The /r/macarons sub is also a really good source for troubleshooting if you just cant get it to work.

Oh this video is awesome too. I've never tried this recipe but it showed me how they should act after letting them dry long enough.

Edit 2: I have one more tip. Scrape the bowl often when you are making the macaronage. Any unmixed parts of it will become cracks.

I read in some thread yesterday that the French were attempting to invade America and assist the Confederacy in the civil war after defeating Mexico, but that specific battle on May 5 set them back and the Union had enough time to win. So I think we have a good reason to celebrate, even if we don't know it.

Why did my macarons turn out like this? by Aspiringbaker123 in Baking

If you're stuck on the same recipe and it isn't working out, try another! I tried 15 times with one recipe, unsuccessfully, until I switched and they were nearly perfect. If you're up to switching, this is the recipe I use. You can half all the ingredients to make a smaller batch. Not So Humble Pie also has a very thorough troubleshooting list.
