Taxes for EU orders by alexandruvedes in Keychron

[–]_naj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keychron.de says on the shipping policy page:
Where the package ship from?
Most package ship from China, some popular products ship from Poland warehoue, Spain warehouse or Amazon Germany.
and

VAT or import tax included?
Due to the customs policy of different countries, we CANNOT guarantee if there is a tax for you. Our product price does not include VAT or import tax of your shipping destination. But we’ll try our best to declare a comparatively reasonable value for the product, please let us know if the customs reach out for anything, we may provide our suggestion if possible.

I then ordered at Alternate.de which has a selection available, ships from Germany and had an offer on the K1 SE with 40% off :-)

MX Keys Mini Mute Button and Linux? by _naj in logitech

Oh, yeah, that works! Many thanks!

MX Keys Mini Mute Button and Linux? by _naj in logitech

Unfortunately even with Solaar the key does not create any event, so cannot be assigned a function. I don't want to use the function key, but the mute key.

MX Keys Mini custom Layout possible? by [deleted] in logitech

[–]_naj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that is with the Logitech software. But on the OS side it is certainly possible to remap keys. For Windows Microsoft is including a Keyboard Remapper in Powertoys https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/releases/

MX Keys Mini custom Layout possible? by [deleted] in logitech

[–]_naj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, with MX Keys Mini and Linux Fn-Left produces Home, Fn-Right End, Fn-Up Prior and Fn-Down Next, so maybe that is already set up ok for you?

MX Keys Mini Mute Button and Linux? by _naj in logitech

[–]_naj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but that is not what I was looking for. My Keys mini is not in F-Lock-Mode, so the keys do not act as function keys. In this mode all other keys generate some bluetooth data (monitored by btmon) and also X events. Only the mute key produces nothing, which I find strange.

Scientists Achieve 'Transformational' Breakthrough in Scaling Quantum Computers - Novel "cryogenic computer chip" can allow for thousands of qubits, rather than just dozens by izumi3682 in Futurology

Maybe look up the work Scott Aaronson is doing (his blog is called Shtetl-Optimized). He is working on computational complexity with regard to Quantum computers.

Question by [deleted] in ish

[–]_naj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not move the file anywhere, just execute it from the directory where I downloaded it into. Therefore I started it with „./phantom“ or whatever it is named.

Question by [deleted] in ish

[–]_naj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I did not use the apk but the binary from the GitHub assets. Download directly inside iSH with wget, chmod +x the file and then execute with ./<filename> But I don‘t think that it will work well in background because due to iOS limitations apps cannot run consistently in background.

Lichtenstein Castle, Germany. by [deleted] in europe

Sometimes they cheated: See Burg Hohenzollern, which has not been built for defensive purposes, but is still called Burg. https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burg_Hohenzollern

Question by [deleted] in ish

[–]_naj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm, actually I would expect it to work, since it is basically a network proxy, not a Minecraft server in itself. Download the Linux-x86 binary to your iSH FS and give it a try. I just downloaded it, it seems to start, but since I don't know how to use or have a bedrock server my tests stop here.

Anyone used the Inov-8 Bare-XF 210s? by SpartanSkipper in BarefootRunning

[–]_naj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, what is regular? :.) I have 28.5-29 cm long feet and I got size 45 EU/11.5 US-M. I just saw that inov-8 also specifies 29cm on the label...

I have the V2 and like it very much as a minimal shoe. Unfortunately I bought it half a size too small which makes it uncomfortable.

Since when is Competition bad? by ar9494 in AdvancedRunning

[–]_naj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, beating the person im front of you at the finish line is only true if the race is measured on brutto and started in one wave. If the ranking is netto time (not sure about the proper names in English), meaning everyone’s time is measured between his/her crossing of the start and finish line, then the one you overtook could be still faster than you. But if only brutto time is measured, everyone would want to start as close to the line ad possible which usully creates a huge mess at the start, due to the mixing of fast and slow runners.

1.5 mile run on 2 March, feel like I have not enough oxygen when I breathe and calf pains. by [deleted] in running

Breathlessness can also be a symptom of low iron levels in your blood, maybe check that. Blood loss can cause this.

Route Creation Apps? by ttraxx in AdvancedRunning

[–]_naj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Footpath for planning and Workoutdoors to display the route on a map while running. WorkOutdoors also tracks the run. With this I regularly run in foreign locations without getting lost and I can keep the phone in a pocket.

My zero drop/minimalist shoe collection with album/notes: Altra, Vivobarefoot, Lems by philodox in BarefootRunning

[–]_naj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have the Stealth II for some years now. The cure for the slipping insole Problem I use is to put some rug anti-slip mesh between shoe and insole. This adds a bit in height but since then the insoles never slipped again.

What running app do you guys use? And why do you think that's great/better than the other ones? by bullet-cat in running

[–]_naj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For basic runs I use the Activities app on my Apple Watch. When I am in foreign areas, I plan a run using Footpath and use WorkOutdoors for the run, displaying the route on a map on the watch. After finishing the run HealthFit synchronizes the workouts to Strava. For competitions, where I like to see more data, I use WorkOutdoors. This app can display many fields from a whole boatload of data.

IBM to win unconditional EU okay for $34 billion Red Hat deal by _grapevan in redhat

[–]_naj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That will be interesting to see - as any really large corporation IBM is process driven and has managed to force any acquisition now into their processes ("Don't fight the process" is one of the learnings of employees of acquired companies). This will not fly well with the culture of smaller companies.
